Hello all!

So, an interesting conversation came up between my guildies and I about skill balancing and matchmaking in non-rated BGs.

The initial topic consisted of methods to balance Bgs based on different factors other than just RNG in queues. Balancing systems are in place for Rated BGs, Arenas, and similar Match making systems in SC2 as well.

The question is: Why can't a basic-level match making system be used for non-rated BGs as well? Possible criteria for being in different "Leagues" (if you will) could comprise of:

- Gear Rating (just like having to have a particular ilvl for Heroics)
- Numbers in previous BGs (HKs, Damage/Healing, KBs, and other equations to determine game ranking)
- Amount of PvP played (overall, BGs, etc to determine very basic experience in PvP) - This might skew the system too much. Just a thought.
- An Arena/RBG style "Personal BG Rating".

And other critera could possibly be used to set players in a proper "League" very similar to SC2. No additional rewards need to be given in order to still have the same incentive to form Rated BG / Arena teams to progress up the PvP system.

Pros and Cons so far in the discussion:

[Pros]

- Would further balance the player base in particular queues based on ilvl and gear type.
- Would further balance teh ratio to higher geared / skilled / rated players in BGs with more experienced players.
- Would set a new competitiveness in Randoms for people who cannot / choose not to participate in other rated.
- Would be a good transition from randoms to actual rated PvP.
- Possible bot elimination in all but the lower brackets

[Cons]

- Possible longer queues (Perhaps, not familiar with how the technical side of server queues work at this time)
- Friends / guildies in different "rankings" would have trouble queuing together (which could be remedied by having players be able to choose to random or use this system)

Community, what are your thoughts on this concept? Thanks in advance for insight!
