Your example of someone living longer than someone who didn't smoke does not make it a universal fact either.
I really hope you're not a Coke, Pepsi, or Red Bull drinker. Sugar can give you diabetes.

And also every single fast-food... Talk about hypocrisy...

Car exhaust is 100x worse. A couple cigarettes aren't going to do shit compared to everything else. But regardless the pictures are getting out of control. Just let people judge for themselves ffs.
Cars don't usually sit on my couch with the engine running.

Are you saying that Coca-Cola is literally as bad for you as cigarettes?
    Want to post some proof?
If not, what are you saying? Because it sounds like a whole lot of nothing.

Pretty sure he mentioned none of the above in his post. And I don't think ANY of that has been in this thread at all until your post about it in some attempt to defend smoking by pointing out other facts about things that also may harm you.

Let say I drink 45 Red Bull per day, you don't think it's worse than my 5 cigarettes?

It's extreme, but the point is there.

I feel no sympathy for smokers, especially the ones whose excuse for smoking is "It's my own personal choice!". Honestly screw you and your selfish attitude, your making your "own personal choice" for you and everyone around you. I dealt with smoking parents for 18 years and had to deal with awful allergies and asthma attacks that without a rush to the hospital would have killed me and LO AND BEHOLD when the Doctors told my parents that these were caused by THEIR smoking and they need to take it outside if not stop altogether for MY well being they chose to ignore it and continue to to do so. Now I live in a smoke free apartment building and I have 0 allergies and I have not even a sign of asthma since I moved out.

Smoking cigarettes in their current form of poison in a stick should be illegal no doubt about it. The simple fact that it negatively impacts the health of others around you and the fact that it literally does nothing but harm people and does not positively impact you in any way make it an open and shut case.

This is the problem. Smokers should have to pay for what they did to themselves.

This is why I roll my own tobacco or I smoke some natural hand rolled cigars.

The pictures on cigarette cartons are ridiculous and not trying to offend anyone in this thread but most non smokers are self righteous hypocrites that do other damaging activities to their bodies such as heavy alcohol drinking, unhealthy fast food diets and sitting/playing on a computer for perhaps a full day or most of the day.

I try to not smoke around non smokers (my wife, for example does not smoke and I do not do so in front of her...Unless Im smoking some flavored cigars, SHE sits next to me cause of the smell) but if Im smoking and you suddenly walk up to me PRETENDING you're coughing or talking some shit about my cigarette I'll just laugh and puff more. I've met people with ridiculously healthy life styles die because of cancer and heart failure whereas I know other people who have smoked cigars all their lives 6-8 times a day and are amazingly healthy.

    So whatever, dude.

Life spans are different for each person anyway, not to mention there are a number of other things that could have shortened their lives besides cigarettes.

But the smokers that outlived some non-smokers still would've lived longer if they hadn't smoked.

the whole point is, even if it stops 1 person from smoking the pictures have done their job.

There is no denying that smoking is bad, in terms of health, for the smoker and those around them. People do often underestimate the potential damage that can be done to this day however, and graphical images to shock and disgust are one of the few ways to really get through to those people. Many of them likely think "it won't happen to me" too, even if you hit them with the facts that just about everyone who smokes has severe health issues later in life from smoking.

LOLWUT!? 5-10 is like half a pack a day. God damn man. That's insane. In any case, your analogy fails, as does with the KY tube. Smoking HAS been linked to the detriment of your health, while sex hasn't. In fact the opposite in nearly all studies.

In any case, I don't really agree with it. I do think its rather stupid, but I do feel something needs to be done with smoking, more education and so forth. People call them "cancer sticks" for a reason. They are horrible for your health. Even in "moderation".

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if you yourself know of the dangers, because someone else may well not.

I worked for a gay mens health organisaton once, promoting things like safe sex meetings fo educate young guys who weren't given an education in school and wanted to ask questions, as well as leaflets and free condoms and other things.

What I learned well working there, was how it doesn't matter if I teach one group of guys about how important safe sex is, a new group of guys would come months later and not even know the dangers of not using a condom or the kind of STDs there were out there.

Fact is, young groups of people are often ignorent to the dangers of drugs, smoking, drinking and sex, because they arn't told this stuff, and no matter how many you tell, there are just as many who won't know it.

Ignorance is bliss, until someone loses an eye.

But the fact of the matter is that it's not hypocrisy. Whether I eat those foods or drink those drinks, I am still able to mitigate that intake by doing so in moderation and through exercise or simply not indulge. We're all guilty of our eating habits but to try and link it to smoking is a far stretch when smoking is a much larger risk to yourself and to others and is purely optional whereas eating and drinking are not.

Look, I'm not trying to be a dick here and if people do smoke, hey, that's their choice but I simply have a hard time feeling bad for those who continue to do so, ignore the risk, and end up getting cancer. Like I said earlier, my father is 52 years old and will likely die in the next couple of months because of oral cancer which is one of the pictures on the box so I can't help but be a little touchy on this matter.

A vaporizer or baking it into foods. But really it's nowhere near as bad for you as smoking cigarettes. Smoking anything is bad for your lungs but so is breathing dirty air, what makes cigarettes so bad is all of the chemicals they add to them to make people become addicted and whatever the hell else they add.
