Theres no such thing as dark matter. Theres some force moving the galaxies apart. We don't know what it is. We named that unknown for dark matter to make it sound cooler, rather than naming it that unknown force in every conversation.

Dark Energy.

Dark = Unknown
Energy = Force

Dark Matter = Matter which does not interact with the electromagnetic force (light), AKA "invisible shit."

Both were "created" in order to explain an unknown. Dark Matter, for example, to explain a discrepancy between gravity and the matter we saw in certain Galaxies or even voids. Dark Matter is largely unknown, I don't know if there's anything like the Standard Model which actually describes what dark matter even is.
