Quite interested in this, I am from the UK and I have noticed several people pronounce Route as "rowt" which is different to how I say it: "Root."
So just interested on how you pronounce it, Rowt or Root?

Depends on context-for whatever reason I think I use both.
From NW US.
I'll say both, but most of the time I say it as root.
root, i have heard rowt, just think it sounds weird like that :P
I think it's the American pronounciation of it that's "rowt". I pronounce it that way as well!
I tend to go with "root", because the Dutch "route" is pronounced as "root-uh"
<<< Englishman too. I also pronounce it "root".
But, the word 'Rout', as in, "the army was routed", I pronounce "rowt".
It honestly depends on context. A path is a "root". A team getting it's butt kicked is a "rowt".
Also, wireless "rowt"er

i say root but i hear it pronounced rowt a lot. however i say root because i am french canadian and route is a french word pronounced like root.
Americans pronounce it "rowt". You'll notice it if you watch American football and they talk about the wide receivers' routes.
It's "root". It comes from French. You never pronounce the phrase "en route" as "on rowt", it's always "on root". Because that's how you pronounce "route".
Like Baiyn said, it's "rout" that you pronounce "rowt".
It all depends on the context. When talking about directions, It all depends on what my mood is, i'll frequently go back and forth between "root" and "rowt"
.
When talking about networking, its always Rowt, "rooter" just sounds weird.
Context-dependent: Rowt around something, State Root 99
Let's change this thread to "How you pronounce "tear"?"!
