    Guildwars2 "Endgame" begins at lvl1.

Level scaling is basically going to make the whole game 'endgame'.

I guess I will have to try in beta this weekend to understand.

An other way of saying it is that level scaling is basically going to make the whole game 'tutorial'.

No, level 1 is tutorial. Level 2-80 is endgame.

The way the system works is like this. Your level is automatically scaled to the level of the zone you are in. So for example, if you play WoW think of it like this. Let's say you had a buddy who was like 5 and you were level 85 and they wanted a run through ragefire chasm or stockads. You would murder that place with no trouble on your 85. In GW2 however you get sidekicked to the level of the zone so your 85 would become a level 8 (think zones are like +-3 so level 5 would be for 2-8 or something). Since your level is now 8 the zone is just as hard for you as him. This makes ALL zones endgame as you can never outgear a dungeon.

Also, in each dungeon you have two modes, story mode and exploration mode. In story mode it's "easier" and just to give you a background of the zone. Once you've completed a dungeon in story mode you can then run it in exploration mode which has 3 different routes to take. Inside of each of these 3 routes are randomly spawning bosses so each dungeon also has any number of different possible outcomes. So not only is every dungeon and DE endgame content, each dungeon can be different than the last time you ran it so you can't just "learn" a dungeon and know exactly what to do. You could if you ran it a bunch but it's much different than learning WoW mechanics like you do now.

Hope this answers your questions, let me know if you have more.

A good way to simplify it is that the first few zones will be easy (say lvls 1-20), the 20-60 ones will be medium, and the 60-80 ones will be hard. When you get higher level, you'll have the choice to go to the harder zones, or stay in the easier ones.

Level 1 is an actual tutorial, unless they've changed that in recent builds. It gives you some basic information about the game and doesn't let you go anywhere. Once you've finished that initial segment, which is right about when you become level 2 (about 10-15 minutes in), then you can go wherever you want basically. That's when the endgame starts.

This info is from the press beta, so if they've changed it since, I wouldn't know.

Wrong. All dungeons are endgame. Endgame does not only mean raids like in WoW.

I'll say it again, all dungeon and all DEs are endgame content.

In short, there is not end game for GW2. You can replay the content you have already done which - in theory(how good it will perform this remains to be seen) - downscale you back to what you was on that level stat-wise but lets you keep all your skills (thus making the content marginally easier for low level stuff). Apart from nostalgia though there will be no incentive to replay what you have already played (not gear wise, as gear is the same or difficulty wise as bosses will have the same mechanic and you will have your constant stats). If PvP is not the thing that gives you kicks, rolling alts will be your main source of enjoyment (after you have tried the dungeons, which you, no doubt will try while leveling). You can always hope that developers will churn out expansions at fast pace and you will have money to update yourself with them.

In general I don't care in the slightest about cosmetic stuff, why would I want to do a dungeon again if I already did it and get no reward? I'd rather play some other game then...

I think you're vastly underestimating the amount of content in GW2. With ~1500 dynamic events in the game at release, do you really think you'll have done all of them when you reach level 80? Let's assume each DE takes 10 minutes to complete (for simplicity's sake), that's 15,000 minutes (250 hours, or 10.4 days) of content. Leveling speed plateaus at 90 minutes per level at level 30, meaning it's faster before then, but let's assume every level, 1-80, takes 90 minutes. That's 7,200 minutes (120 hours, or 5 days exactly).

This means that when you hit level 80, you'll have experienced about half of the game. There will be about FIVE CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF BRAND NEW CONTENT. And this isn't even taking into account meta-events or dungeons.

How many hours of brand new PvE content can you find in your average MMO at max level these days?

Considering the game is based around PvP, most of the end-game is going to be PvP. There will be world bosses/events and dungeons, but nothing like WoW. There are no raids. If you are looking for the WoW experience in a new game, then GW2 probably won't be for you.

Thanks to JustintimeSS for the awesome sig!

Because you enjoy running a dungeon? I mean, if you don't, why are you playing? Games are supposed to be fun, not chores.

Let's think about it a bit: what makes more sense - a system which forces you to run a single dungeon multiple times until you get enough gear that the dungeon becomes trivial and you can do the same with another, more difficult dungeon. Or a system which ensures that EVERY dungeon ALWAYS stays hard (and in some ways, unpredictable), so that you can run it any time you want to have a challenge?

It's fun how people define 'endgame' as raids.

Guild Wars 2 'endgame' would then be 5 man dungeons, with an exploration setting (Heroic). And let me guess, I said heroic dungeon and you thought they would automatically be easy, just because World of Warcraft ones are? No, these dungeons with exploration setting will be very hard.

The "endgame at level 1" is poorly parroted. It simply means there is no bimodal endgame.

And to add to this: they will aways stay hard because you will be scaled to the dungeon's level. So you can't just roll through them by getting better gear/leveling.
