Louisiana is one of those states I rarely hear anything about, so know almost nothing about it (to the point I've not really got many questions) I didn't actually know New Orleans was in Louisiana.
But I guess one question that I would like to know for the future, would you recommend Louisiana as a place to visit for someone visiting/touring the U.S and what are some good sights to see?
Oh, oh! How's the weather in Louisiana? Is it spared the heat of the states west of it?
sadly no, summers are hot and humid and the winters are good for the most part aside from the days when the weather cant make up its mind what season its in
not to steal the op's thunder lol
As far as sightseeing goes, we have a national forest in Central LA thats gorgeous but most tourist stick to the coast. There are many plantations that are kept as museums where you can see slave quarters, etc. Its a very humbling place to see where these people lived and worked their whole lives away. Of course, you will want to go New Orleans, where you can party hard and check out some beautiful architecture and other cultural centers in the city. I would also dare to say we have the best gambling outside of Vegas, with quite a few high end casinos and resorts. Can't forget Mardi Gras, where millions of people flood New Orleans and have a giant party :P

Yeah, to expand on what Punxi said, there aren't very many days where the humidity is below 80%. Summer can be a killer, most days have 80-100% humidity plus 90+degrees F. We have very mild winters, but can occasionally get some decent Arctic Cold Fronts... that being said, if its below 70 degrees I normally have a jacket on lol.
Also random fact, the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast is most likely one of the most disgusting bodies of water you will ever come across due to the Oil Rigs... the water looks like chocolate milk :x. Once you go past the Oil Rigs though, you'll find some good fishing and beautiful seas.

not i sir, not i, can keep new orleans... especially during mardi gras lol. one trip and witnessing someone get shot over beads as enough to say noty lol
Hahaha. Shhh don't scare off the tourists! In all fairness though, if you go to New Orleans, you're more likely to be randomly murdered than in any other city in the U.S >.<. The violence has escalated a lot since hurricane Katrina, but most tourist places are perfectly safe. Where you from Punxi? I'm in Lake Charles.
I love Louisiana have been there a couple times training for work and have been to baton rouge, new orleans and spent a couple months in shreveport. A military buddy of mine owns a charter fishing business there. If I were to ever move to another state it would probably be Louisiana, Georgia or Florida... say what you will about the south but nobody moves up north to retire.
The only thing I really like about this state is New Orleans. It's the one redeeming quality of living here. And I've lived in Louisiana for nearly my whole life and was born here.
im about 15min north of Baton Rouge
I live in Shreveport, and I can agree with you 100%.
I lived in Michigan almost all my life and moved here for work almost two years ago.
Shreveport is a shithole. I am considering this a failed experiment and moving back to Michigan as soon as I can settle on a job up there.
However, New Orleans is a wonderful place to visit. I've been there about 10 times for work, pleasure, and Mardi Gras (extreme pleasure).
