TV resolution while plugged into the pc

Ok so I plugged in my 32 inch TV to my pc with a HDMI cable and I can only have a 1920x1080 resolution for the desktop etc and when I start WoW I can only use 1280x720... Any1 know if you can fix it by changing some settings on the pc or is it all up to what TV I got and what support it has ?

Atm the screen is flickering abit and it's really shitty quality with the 1920x 1080 res, but if I lower it I get abit better quality and the flickering stops but everything on the screen is just so much larger which is not what Im after :/ When I play a movie in VLC or w/e it's fine quality.

What I basicly want is to have the same size on things as on my 21incher but I want more working space, if you understand what I mean, larger area. For instance, wow would take up 100% of the screen on my 21 incher, but on the 32 incher I want it to be just a window on the screen (with the same resolution , size and quality as on my 21 incher) but so that I can have a webbrowser next to it or w/e.

I know with my tv i have to change the res to 1080i rather than 1080 in order to get the refresh rate above 30.
You can change the res settings in your catalyst if amd, or Nvidia control panel if nvidia.

As soon as I change the refresh rate above 30 it changes back to 720p for some reason :/

When I switch to the HDMI source input it says "1920x1080, 60 Hz" but when I change the shit to 60 Hz it just starts to flicker and it resets to either 30 HZ again or to 720p with 60hz... Im so bad with computers >.<

Mm, generally some of the cheaper TVs from the UK (assuming you're from the UK...) are 50Hz, some are 60Hz (not sure on TVs from other places, but I believe that America's standard TV is 60Hz). So what you can try to do is running it at 1080p @ 50Hz
    Computer: Intel I7-3770k @ 4.5GHz | 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM | AMD 7970 GHz @ 1200/1600 | ASUS Z77-V PRO Mobo|

    What TV do you have?

Most 32'' models tend to be 720p.

this, and the fact that you are maybe sending a 60Hz signal to a 50 Hz monitor or vice versa. But most tv have a small resolution compared to their smaller computer monitor counterpart.

If you are trying to play wow (windowed) and other programs (vent, skype, browse, etc.) on the TV you may be fighting a losing battle of screen space.

    1080 HDTV = 1920pixels by 1080pixels
    720 HDTV = 1280pixels by 720pixels

typical 21" widescreen monitor is either 1440pixels by 900pixels or the newer/better ones are 1920pixels by 1080pixels

If you run the tv at 1080 then WoW should at 1920x1080, 1440x900 or 1280x720 which the later two resolutions would only provide minimal free screen space for the other programs to be displayed.

Your best option is to run WoW on the TV at 1080 and use the 21" monitor for the other programs or vise versa (this is assuming you get the tv to display 1080)
