Getting half way through a project and wishing you never started!

Loooooooong story short I've been living in the suburbs of Chicago for almost a decade. Tired of being isolated from my social life, I made the decision to move into the city. I own my suburban place and like most people the housing market crash screwed me over. I decided to rent my place out and was faced with a decision:

Hire someone to do it and pay out the nose, or do it myself.

I saw the dollar signs of saving all the labor costs and began doing it myself.

I'm one week away from my move date and almost done, but the last month has been this all-consuming hell place where all I want to do is hang myself with extension cords while suffocating on plaster putty and cutting all my extremities off with power tools.

I did save a lot of money, but holy crap has this project been hell.

So what about you folks -- what are some things you started and decided half way through you wish you never did? Any fun stories?

I was in a PhD program for chem (left with a MS though) -- what was the subject (unless you don't want to share).
