As you've most likely noticed, the servers are highly unstable due to around 500,000 people spamming the login every second,

but I just purchased an item on the AH, my gold was removed, but the item only briefly appeared in the Completed tab, but is not in my inventory.

You might want to wait before buying any item.

You have to send completed items to your stash using the auction UI.
