disc priests role in rbgs?

Now... I don't play disc often, but I'm a 2.4k rated SP in RBG and 2.5 in arena. And what baffles me is their damn attitude!

On topic: mass dispel, focus dispel, instant heals and burn mana on low healer targets who then are kept alive. we can usually pull it off with 1 never more... so its 10 v 9.

I don't play at a high rating (yet) but in the games I have played, i have been the most successful not worrying about healing as much as dispels, mana burn, MC (when it can make a difference), shields etc. On those fights the raid leader would call out "best healer" at the end and my heart would sink, since my hps was way lower than the other healers. Recount doesn't do disc much justice, or healing in general to some degree. Too many variables, too many important abilities that aren't heals.
