    North Korea a sham?

Well after a week of threatening to destroy South, they've suddenly gone silent. Was it just a bluff?

  2. #2
They do this all the time.

  3. #3
It's just them showing the world, "Hey, we're still here! Fear us!" and the rest of us just sort of sigh and shake our heads.

  4. #4
They do this quite a lot, don't worry about it.

Yes. It's always a bluff. Their government is essentially a bunch of old military blowhards and cowards, caught between trying to appear powerful and trying not to get their country wiped off the map.

It's always a bluff. They aren't actually capable of... anything, actually. Their military is beyond a joke. "But they have the highest military spending as percentage of GDP in the world!"
Shut up. When was the last time you saw North Korea's GDP? 99% of nothing is still nothing. They are using technology that the 1950's US military would have called garbage.

I sat here for about 5 minutes trying to come up with some witty joke, but failed. lol

But na North Korea is that guy who raises his voice and slings the curse words around, but then says he is just joking when you stand up to punch em in the teeth.

North Korea is participating in the most atrocious war crimes since the Holocaust, read about North Korean political prison camps. In a nutshell the NK government imprisons entire families for three generations if one member of the family tries to flee NK or participates in anti-regime activities. In said camps rape, murder, starvation, and slave labor are rampant issues. Most prisoners are born in these camps and die by age 40, from starvation and over working.

We said we wouldn't turn a blind eye after Nazi Germany's atrocities but it is already too late, we must act. North Korea would be incapable of waging a war faster than Iraq during Desert Storm, unfortunately China has a hidden agenda.

Germany didn't have nukes and actually posed an immediate and legitimate threat to the world. Stopping violations of human rights was just a bonus.

That country is a joke, but I feel bad for the shitty life and time warp the poor people are forced to live in.

North Korea suffered a horrible embarrassment several weeks ago when they attempted to launch a new rocket. They took the unusual step of inviting the worlds media to watch only to have the rocket fall apart right after launch. Threatening South Korea was their attempt at saving face. The reality is that most of the world views North Korea as if they were a child. They like to throw tantrums, talk a lot. But eventually they just stomp off to their room and stew in silence.

Addendum: Note that what the world sees, and what the people in North Korea see, could well be two totally different things.

In case you haven't noticed, most people are tired of war. And most people would agree that we are NOT the world police. Most people would also agree that North Korea's affairs are it's own. Especially considering, aside from some loud talk, they really aren't much of a threat to the rest of the world.

They are kinda the chihuahuas of Asia. They yip and make a lot of noise act big and strong, then run and hide or quit at the first sign of any real response.

North Korea is run by wolves and its people are sheep. Its quite sad because the country is literally starving to death while the leaders continue to squander there resources on failing technology. They should just embrace a capitalist system, its the only thing that works...

As fellow humans though it is cruel, and as Zulathar said, power comes with responsibility. I honestly don't think China would be to angry if we liberated them, and I am sure there would be a lot of nations that backed us.

Overall though, North Korea is just a little 5 year old that wants attention for dumb feats. Just smile and laugh.

My guess is, that these threats towards South Korea are also a device to impress (any b this oppress) their own population. They don't show in their medias, how they are laughed at by their "opponents".

N korea threatens everyone all the time. It's like that kid from middle school, the one who is always so yappy about getting all the girls and beating people up, but if it came down to it, they'd get their teeth kicked in.

The US isn't Spider-man thanks for the quote without citation.

Our, responsibility shouldn't be to force people to act like we do, but rather set the example of how to act.

They have nuclear weapons. so we cant say shit - thats how it works, Pakistan has nukes and they had bin laden hiding in a fort a few miles from a government building.... we didnt say shit. When countries have nuclear weapons there is a fear that if you pressure them to hard they are just going to start leveling cities, hence why we are on Irans case about the slightest thing, but north korea and pakistan get to do whatever they like
