    Sound from the h100 block

i got a weird sound from the block, the one that is mounted on the cpu i got it since i mounted it

what can it be, can it be air bubble in the unit?

    i mounted it friday

The pump is on the block. H series from corsair are infamous for having loud and faulty pumps. If it is coming from the block then rest assured its the pump making noise. RMA it asap.

Air bubbles or the well known buzz-sound. If the sound won't disappear/bugs you a lot than try to connect your pump to a fan controller. The fan controller fix solved my sound problem with the H80 pump!

Many people have sent their pumps for an RMA but they've received two or more times a new unit with the same sounding pump. The only fix is to lower the power from the pump via an adaptor/fan controller in order to slow it down and to get rid of the sound. It also depends on your location if you want to RMA the unit. For example in Europe you have to pay for it and it can cost about 15 euro ....

I'd RMA that right away. Mine sounds nothing like that Oo.

    Should be replaced without problems.

You can try it. Or RMA it if it's not too much of a hassle. It's important that you can connect the 4 pin piece to the controller and turn the speed a little bit down. On my NXZT Sentry 2 the sound is dramatically reduced at 90% and at 80% I can only hear the silent whisper of my NOCTUA NF-P14 FLX fans.

Is it split in 1 cable to a 3 pin head and 2 cables to a 4 pin molex? If it is (like the H80), than you have to connect the 4 pin to your fan controller instead of the power supply (because your goal is to reduce the power on the pump which produces the noise). Also note that if your fan controller has no 4 pin molex connector you will probably need an adaptor (4 pin to 3 pin).

i only have a fan header from the fan controller, the molex plug from the fan controller goes to the psu to get the power to power the fan controller

Your pump has 2 connectors a fan header and a molex for power, right? The pump should draw power via the fan controller. As I understand you should need something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812201009 in between your fan controller and the molex of your pump.

ok i found that the fan controller are using all fan headers.

could you recommend a fan controller?

Depends on your budget and where you wanna buy it. Who's your retailer of choice? I'm satisfied with the NXZT Sentry 2 because it has a touchscreen (important for cases with doors) and monitors 5 fans. Also you can set the fans from 40% to 100% speed with it and it's pricing was reasonable. Another factor would be the size. My fan controller has a slot in the front but out there are also fan controllers which need 2 slots.

Please post your retailers site, your budget and other requirements (touchscreen/buttons or knobs). I've heard brands like NXZT, Scythe and Lian Li should be the way to go.

RMA it. That's what I did. Took just short of 4 days to get a replacement.

For reference, here is a sound-sample of my faulty H80: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8872xkt1yl...80%20Noise.m4a

    And just to clarify:
    - The pump on the H80 and H100 (and probably the other Hydro-series coolers as well) get their power from the molex connector. The fan connector that you plug into your CPUFAN1 header on your motherboard is for getting temperature information from the CPU and regulating speed thereafter (if using automatic mode).

That's fast! Are you living in the US? I've read here in the EU it takes much more time to get a replacement and they charge you 15 euro. I haven't had the time and money to RMA my unit and risk to get also a faulty unit back (many people in the EU reported that they've got also faulty units in return) so I took the advise from a few forums to fix it myself.

I live in Sweden and it had to be shipped to Netherlands. I'm not sure how the laws work in the US, but at least in Sweden the company that sold you the unit needs to take it back if it's faulty - no charge - and send it further or repair/replace the unit(s).

Corsair wouldn't survive as the respectable brand it is if they kept messing up their products. The bad batches are from (afaik) September last year, January, March and April. I really hope for their and the consumers sake that they have removed the faulty units from their inventory and recalled as many of the shipped ones as possible. If the replacement unit is faulty, just RMA it again and demand that you get a discount or something to compensate the trouble (I have gotten a lot of free stuff this way ^^).

Yeah, that's what I also know, but a few people told me otherwise and claimed they had to pay for the transport themselves which would increase your costs for 1/8 of the coolers price (if you need a RMA one time). So that wasn't an option for me.

Call their support and ask for more information about a RMA of your cooler. If the conditions don't appeal to you try one of the fixes.

I also don't understand why they put the goddamn red paper in the box and tell you only to send the unit to them and not to get in touch with your retailer (as with every single product else). Do they need to push down the fail rate?
