I like to use the Templar while running with my wizard.
His regen is really good and stacks with my passive armor rune regen.
Sometimes he tanks and heals me for 4k which is not bad.

The templar is my favorite on all my chars except barb. He helps me survive pretty well specd with heal and sometimes the charge is helpful. If you mean class companion then it's definitely the demon hunter ferrets

I'm a Barb, used templar all through normal and hell, started using enchantress when I realized that there are companions who wont run into plauged pools and get one shot.

Enchantress. Armor and attack speed buffs are nice.

Demon Hunter, I use the templar as a meat-shield, and you know just for a quick heal if I ever need one.
