I was hoping someone could recommend a good .40 to me. The only one I've tried so far is the Glock 23, which I liked quite a bit, but I definitely want to explore some other options. This gun will be for home defense only, not carrying.

well sorry but i can't tell you jack shoot about gunsxD there illigal to have in my country unless you have permits ect.
still i suggest you go to a gunstore and also ask about training involving the proper use / taking care of the gun.

On topic: Colt Single Action Army. Be a Revolver Ocelot! I've always wanted one myself, mainly just like the way they look.

I would go for a semi-auto with a mag instead of chambers if i would ever get a gun, howerver i don't like the idea of everyone running around with guns, soooooo meh.

If you really have to post a *what gun thread* do you really think you are mature enough/experianced enough to own a gun? Surely there are shooting clubs where you can discuss this in far greater detail?
I live in the UK so no guns here but If i could own a gun the last place I would look for advice would the off topic of a gaming forum site.
Yeah buy a mini gun no dude will rob you then.

A downside to revolvers is that you have to keep them loaded, otherwise you're going to have to futz around with a speedloader under stress.

Yeah, you could. Honestly, I haven't been exposed to that many different gun types, but if you know the basic safety rules of all guns (know how to uncock your gun (without firing it) if using a revolver, don't point it at anyone you don't intend to kill, and so on), and just want a different opinion from someone that knows about a different kind, it's alright. HK P30 or Beretta 96. My favorite is a 93R, however they don't have the chambering option for .40.
