Chrome Search Bar has stopped working

So for some reason the search bar for chrome no longer works. When I search an actual url it takes me directly there, but when I simply try to google something the search flashes for a second and then displays a blank screen with the url https://www.google.com/blank.html#hl...w=1920&bih=979 (that was when i simply searched "hi".) I can still search through google.com and through the google search app, but this is incredibly frustrating. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome to no avail. Any help would be appreciated, thx.

All I can say is that I'm experiencing the same issue. (Windows 7). I know it's less hopeful but when you're not the only one it's slightly more reassuring and less frustrating.

edit: I found a solution for anyone that cares. Basically, go to settings in chrome by clicking on the wrench at the top right hand corner, and selecting settings. Then press "Manage Search Engines...", Add a new search engine, called whatever you want (Mine is just Google2), put in any keyword, and then for the search url put "http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=%s" without the quotation marks. Then just set that to your default browser and it will work again, or at least i worked for me at that point. Hope that helps.

Mine literally since last night (although I'm fairly certain it did work last night, at least up until 4 am) is now doing the same thing, blank.html is the offending reason. I don't know (I'm having sync issues as well) if Google recently changed domains/sub-domains around again or what. I put a post on the Chrome group about it though.

The really strange thing, and who knows maybe it's been like this for a little while considering I don't use IE, I just recently formatted back to Windows 7 and IE keeps throwing a search engine error about Bing whenever I open that.[COLOR="red"]

Also, in my case, on-the-fly searching no longer works if I use the workaround. What I mean by that (I THINK it's called omnibox) is that as you type your search query the page constantly updates as you add words/letters. Doing it with http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...&ie=UTF-8&q=%s no longer allows that to happen.
