    Building new computer.

Hey guys, I'm building a new computer as this computer I have now is not suitable to run 25's with my guild on WoW. We are swapping over from 10 mans, so this computer was fine as it was. Now, it's time to move forward. I would like to make WoW run 25's with ease on High Settings. I don't need Ultra. My budget is currently around $1100-1600.

Oh, and I'd prefer to keep my keyboard, a Steelseries Merc Stealth mainly because I'm so used to it and very familiar with it.

And need some money for my girlfriend. (she'd kill me if I didn't)

Oh, right, and I'm from Canada, so prices are probably different for me.

Basically what i run on. i went with a case i liked better. but it leaves you a bit o money to save or spend on peripherals. i tackle everything at ultra with slight dips in 25mans but just tune it down to high and youll be set.

I like the build, and definitely falls into my budget range. With the summer, I'll be able to build that in just under a month, so I'm in no hurry. As well, we're running 25's for the expansion. And from the look of it, it'll be able to run my other games fairly smoothly, ie, League of Legends, Diablo 3, etc.

good im glad to hear it. you should be able to OC the GPU and CPU no problem. have fun with the build and if you go with what i did feel free to pm me with any questions you might have

i went with an NZXT phantom 410 as the case. very good airflow. my cpu is 60C at full load using aida64. and if you cant find an asus gtx 670 just look around the forums to find another brand of 670 than the people like

Is the build in the second post, using canadian suppliers instead of US American.

Hey, at least with the prices in Canadian, it's still not too big of a gap. Because of that, I"ll probably be able to get it within the month . I'm not looking for Ultra settings on anything anyways, so I'm happy with the result. Thank you!

I would emphatically recommend getting a larger SSD. Having to manage files on a 64 GB SSD, 20 GB of which can be seen as reserved by Windows, is going to be an absolute pain in the backside for you. Especially as 4GB of it is going to be unaccessible anyway.

  8. #8
Which would you recommend then, still falling within the budget?

Go to an HD 7850 (200-250 dollars instead of 440 dollars).

That card was recommended by a friend of mine because I WAS Going to just upgrade that, but my psu couldn't handle it. So I decided to just build a new computer. So what would the price look like if it was the same build mostly, but with those swapped in?

  11. #11
the graphics card saves you around 200 dollars, the extra capacity for the SSD drives that price up by about 40 dollars, so total new price is going to be around $1040 CAD, plus or minus 10-20 bucks depending on the graphics card you get (the MSI twinfrozr2 7850 is about 200 dollars right now, the Asus DCII 7850 is around 240 dollars).

What about an AMD Radeon 7770?

Alright. Deciding on the build right now, with the build that was linked, and the suggestions you have provided.

play around with this a bit. i cant recommend the 7850. the 7850 will be outdated fast. the way i viewed it was 400 now or 200 now plus another 200 for another upgrade before the 670 becomes outdated.

i have the crucial 128, i was just trying to give you more room for the GF. do the 128

Well, I forgot that later this summer i'll be making around another 600-800 bucks, so that wasn't taken into account. However, with the budget i DO have right now, and will have within a month, I think this will work very nicely for my budget. I'm playing around right now with what might be best for me, mainly for the SSD and Graphics Card. From what it looks like, I CAN run multiple moniters, but I have yet to decide on whether or not to run two monitors

You can run current games on high/ultra settings at 1080p resolution at a more than acceptable frame-rate with them, therefore they aren't outdated.
