Which laptop is better for Guild Wars 2?

Ok my girlfriend wants to buy a new laptop for the sole purpose of GW2 as her current one is getting a tad old

none are high end machines as we are on a budget, but which one of these would be better for Guild Wars 2?

(if your wondering why its all Comet, its because she gets a discount there, and we have some vouchers aswell)

    Those all make me
Honestly with all of those the graphics are going to limit you so much...so I'd just get the one with either the most RAM or best Processor. You should look for one with a smaller screen but better graphics/processor.

i3 with 3 gigs of RAM? The heck...
Sell your kidneys or something, get some extra cash!

Also, this might moreso belong in the thread about computers that exists already (Will my computer run GW2 or something) or the computers subforum.

Would be the choice IF I had to choose between these 3..but I wouldn't even bother tbh. She will have to play on the lowest possible settings, which look reaaaaaally bad and even then it might putter around.

If you can fork over another 200-300 you could get something soooooooo much better.

All these notebooks doesn't have dedicated videocards, so none of them will handle GW2 even on lowest settings.

Be a gentleman, add 300 extra pounds and buy her a decent machine.

I'd go for the http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Laptops/buy...-Laptop/704874 however neither of them have a dedicated graphics card so don't expect to see good things while playing GW2.

Does it have to be a laptop ? Budget may still be an issue but you could get a better spec PC for the money, and a PC setup is much better for gaming than a Laptop anyway. Howabout buying used ?

I woudn't take any of those laptops even if they were free, I doubt they will run GW2 on low.

And yes, if u want to have a laptop top play games on, be prepared to pay the price as its about 2-3x the price of a stationary PC with the same performance.

    None of them.

Seriously, do not buy a £300 laptop and expect to play games on it. For that money I'd barely expect to be able to browse the internet a year from now.

You want a real PC with at least 4Gb RAM and a mid level graphics card.

You'll really need to fork over more cash, sorry.

Laptops are more expensive than desktops because of their mobility and compact design which results in you paying more for less.

Get a laptop around the 600-700 range and you'll be 100x happier about your purchase.

You don't need to play the game on ultra @1080p. But with the notebooks you linked thus far, you'll be lucky to play on low at 720p with more than 20fps.

I got one of those new. If you could find one new or are willing to test refurbished, check that out. I played in BW3 on both my tower and on that laptop and pretty much ran the same way.

The laptop was even projecting onto a second screen (44 inch tv) with really no slow down that I can speak to.

The only draw back is it is large, but that is because it is a 17' screen and has a full graphics card versus the onboard shit most laptops have.

As people are suggesting you go to the £600-700 range, might I suggest this? (and likely start a flame-war -_-)

    http://www.dell.com/uk/p/alienware-x51/pd

I'm playing GW2 with max settings on a slightly upgraded version of that. It's only about the size of an XBox 360, so it's convenient for moving around. And, unlike most other Alienware, it's actually pretty good value.

a corei3 will melt and die screaming a painful death trying to run GW2.

    3 things to look for

    corei5
mid-range graphics card (NO ON BOARD/INTEGRATED GRAPHICS)
    6 GB ram

    http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Laptops/buy...-Laptop/789429

that one is something along the lines of a lappy that will run GW2. A corei3 or laptops with integrated graphics cards will be unplayable with GW2.

I assume it must absolutely be a Laptop because of reasons, a PC would be better and cheaper all-round otherwise.

As for those 3 laptops, not a snowballs chance in hell they will what i would call "run" Gw2. You might be able to boot the game, but as soon as a character sneezes your game will slow down to a crawl. And unless you are going for the slideshow experience i wouldnt get any of those laptops.

The laptop Emily and the one Sidney linked would manage.

Would work too. I really cant figure out why the OP wants to get a laptop if its just for Gw2 anyway.

A machine with Intel HD 4000 IGP will run GW2 'ok' on low settings. I tried playing with my current dedicated 9600M GT, which is much slower than the HD 4000 and it was playable, albeit not really enjoyable. So you can do without a dedicated card (certainly avoid 'dedicated' 610M, because its not really any faster than the Intel's integrated GPU). The laptops you linked are sadly a waste of money.

If you have decent credit do this, and hear me out. Get a dell XPS or even a low end alienware x51. Yes building your own is nice but do the math. that low end alienware is 21 dollars a month, how many sodas or junk food do you take in? 1 soda a day is 30 a month or more if you drink a 20oz bottle. just add up your junk food and look at what you can finance from dell/aleinware. So what if its costing you alot of intrest, how many years do you plan on drinking soda or junk food thats killing you anyways?

If you go dell go desktop and go XPS, or alienware x51 and get the $699 us dollar model.
