    Done already with D3

    Hey.

I haven't touched Diablo 3 in about a 3-4 weeks time and I won't until the PVP patch. After completing the game on Inferno, I just lost all interest in the game. Mainly because I think ACT 4 is atrocious, and how you get items in D3 etc. (the auction house grind). All of my friends and the people I know who started playing it back on release have all stopped too despite some of them playing D2 for years.

This thread isn't for D3 sucks etc.(because I really love a lot of things about the game) but I'm just wondering if people have stopped playing too, and why? It's only been out for almost 3 months now?

What exactly do you mean by "only 3 months out"? If it lasted 3 months for you then it was a major success! It's the only of it's kind to keep players (me included) playing for that long! You seem to compare it to WoW which is completely wrong!

Oh, no, brah. I compare it more to D2.

Grinding is a huge turn off for me in a game and that's why I stopped playing Diablo 3. I really liked playing my monk and barbarian and the game was well worth my money (30 hours +-), but I couldn't stand going through the same levels with the same skills (at least on my monk) only to reach a harder difficulty where I would just do it again and again. It's just not my thing.

I also got too frustrated with the variation in difficulty in mob packs. Some packs I could just tank, others I would have to die 5 times to kill. It felt like I was starting to feel more pain than pleasure with the game, so I stopped playing. I might come back for the pvp patch or even to go to 60 with the other classes.

You should compare it more to the recent RPGs. Comparing Diablo 3 with its predecessor is equally wrong! Different era - different market!

Also, D2 had those expansions keeping it up... when D3 didn't even have its first patch -.-. As you said you'll return once PvP is released, so you actually answered yourself!

The greedy AH design got the best of me pretty fast too. I was hoping to grind for items, but I ended up grinding and exploiting for gold in order to buy items. Blah

I stopped playing recently myself, and yes while i was hoping for more longevity in the game it was by all means worth the money for the 200 hours i put into it

still playing and I'm over 400 hour into the game with 2 character one of which not even 60. I'm avoiding the auction house like the plague except for selling, and I spend the gold in upgrading gems and have a chance with the crafting for some more items (got a couple of them that were pretty good)

I do like to find the upgrades for my Barbarian out in the wild it take some time but it does make it all the more worth when they drop.

the game share my time with League of Legends, Orcs Must Die 2 and WoW so that's probably why I'm not bored yet, variety makes things last longer :>

It's a given that people are going to compare a third installment of a game franchise to its predecessors. D3 development team spent all of its energy taking out features and doing everything they could to appeal to their WoW fanbase. Not only that but they did the absurdly stupid tactic of designing the entire thing from the ground up on how to best push people towards using their money grab auction house.

Personally I should of known before hand how bad this game was going to be , but based on how much I enjoyed D2 I went ahead and purchased D3. Took me all of 20 minutes to find out how shallow and boring it was.

    P.S. Use periods.

Played darkspore 3x longer than d3. Its recent.

I did reinstall d3 last night, hit a point in poe where i needed a break. Id put poe on par with d3 in replay value, but were talking 2 acts in a beta vs 4 in a full release. Poe gets bonus points for the customization of your gear, loses points for content (my issue now, hate the pyramid and its where you find maps).

Like others have said. Worth $60 yes, worth the diablo name, no.

I also stopper playing already. Im kind of dissapointed tho because i thought i wouldve played much more. I probably spent 200 days /played in d2 and LoD.

There is a lot of people saying that when D2 was launched there were atrocious mechanics too, excusing Diablo 3.

Today I did read one argument that was ingenious. If they fixed that mechanics in LoD patches, why the hell they threw away all what they learned, and came back to repeating all the same errors, they supposed learned to avoid?

Fact is and I keep pointing it, two of those were the teams that created the items and the monster fights:

Now, I can't post here because it's HUGE, but go to your D3. Don't even log in. Just push CREDITS, and wait for CINEMATIC TEAM.
    Notice the discrepancy on numbers.

That's what we got: AWESOME cinematics made by an army, and a mediocre game play made by people working for 5 developers EACH. No wonder Diablo 3 sucks. What ANY of us think we could accomplish when forced to overwork that much? Jay Wilson Management is atrocious, and feel bad for the poor developers that were forced to make that shit under his whiplashes

Sadly my friends and me stopped playing pretty fast as well. We all stopped like a week after RMAH hit on EU (not blaming the RMAH here, that's just the timestamp which I remember). It's a bit sad, considering how long I clinged to D2 and kept my characters alive...

    I don't like periods! Especially when there's a debate going on! (~!!!!!~)

What debate? He's asking if people stopped playing and why. You can't debate people's opinions.

Well... that's an opinion! As is for me. I played D3 for about 200 hours... that's huge when I couldn't stand other recent PRGs for a day (~an opinion). That said, it is wrong to claim that D3 didn't occupy you for more than 3 months when, apart from comparing it to D2 (+expansions), hasn't received a single content patch!

And I express my opinion = debate?! What are you trying to say? Am I not free to use whatever punctuation marks I find fit?

I played Diablo 3 vigorously for a good 3 weeks straight, getting both sleep deprived and finger cramps.

Considering the amount of time I put into the grind that was my Demon Hunter, I had lousy gear until the farm for act 1 inferno started. After clearing act 1 with somewhat ease after the massive nerfs to Demon Hunter, act 2 slammed me in the face with a brick wall and I bounced my forehead on that wall for a good 3-4 days straight until I decided that it was pointless to continue, due to the auction house having all the good items overpriced by miles.

After picking up D3 again a day or two ago, I quickly logged off again around 25 minutes after logging in, after seeing how NONE of the decent weapons or items was on the gold auction house anymore, but moved to the real money auction house, priced at ludicrous heights.

So not only was it completely impossible for me to progress without another 4 weeks of grinding for gear, the whole thing made me cringe so badly, I decided that I sure as hell was happy I didn't pay anything for Diablo 3.

And before you say "Herpaderp, you paid 150 dollars for D3, cuz of paying for WoW" - I play WoW regardless, I was gonna keep playing WoW and I still am. No loss for me and probably no loss for Blizzard.

Diablo 3 is a great game, but the RMAH fucks everyone over and should never have been implemented. It has been the sole reason I decided Diablo 3 isn't a game worth playing after reaching Inferno.

Because the patches look so promising....I'm still keeping my finger on the pulse of what's going on in D3 even after dropping that game like a used condom and lets see...

    Removed chests
    Removed monsters
Removed Gold drops from destructible objects
Removed Item drops from destructible objects
Removed MF and GF from affecting the destructible objects that don't drop anything anymore anyways
    Add more WoW enrage timers
Increase repair costs by x6 or something absurd
(I'm sure there was some other obnoxious 'fixes' that I can't recall atm)

Meanwhile actual problems with the game such as

Trade window functionally doesn't work, considering how many people get scammed through it
Dupping (one of the servers had to do a reset because of this, can't remember which one but a EU blue even came right out and said it)

Not really a single reason to look forward to any future changes they end up making to the game

Quit D3 1week after it came out, i went through all it had, and it is just the same thing over and over again, just a little harder in Inferno, had nothing special at all to it, only went through it for the story, which was bad.

I was done with it as soon as I beat normal on my witch doctor. I don't mind grinding levels, but grinding gear is just dumb to me.

And before anyone points it out, I know I didn't level cap, but I wasn't going to play through the same game three times just to cap. That's silly.
