Need help upgrading older build/thoughts on new build in the works :)

Hi! I've had this build for a while and been considering upgrading. The budget is $680. The current build is this, and yes its outdated...lol. Both would be on win7 64 bit.

    Cpu

    Cooler

Mobo (Had the sli version of this board but ended up selling to a friend along with extra 460 gtx.)

    Ram

Vid card (Had issues with it in the past, tired of Pny to be honest.)

Soundcard (Picked this up for $70 a while back)

    ----

Would love opinions on the build I'm thinking about doing -

    Cpu - 955 Black Edition
(Picked this up off a friend a few months back unopened for $40.)

Would the Noctua nh-u12p se2 from my current build be sufficient for the 955?

Mobo - ASUS Crosshair V Formula
(Considering changing this as I dont see myself going to 2 video cards anytime soon and could put some of it towards either a ssd or a short stroked raid, also this would be on a 37" 1080p lcd.)

    Ram - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series PC3 17000
(Best choice I came across, unless their is something better that I missed.)

Video card - Asus GeForce GTX 560 Ti
(Been keeping an eye on this, unless their is something better. Had not so good luck with ati's in the past running hot, may be willing to give radeon another shot if around the same price range.)

    Case - Coolermaster CM Storm
(Was leaning towards the silverstone raven rv02 for a bit, but decided on the Coolermaster cm.)

That is a pretty expensive motherboard for such an average budget build.
Your old cooler will be fine for any of the CPUs on the market today.
I don't feel that the GTX 560Ti is worth its cost anymore, sadly Nvidia hasn't released its replacement yet and you don't want AMD so yeah.
There isn't really not much point in getting 2133MHz RAM over 1600MHz ones.
    What PSU do you have?
    Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz
    Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Windforce 3X @ 1372/7604MHz | Corsair Force GT 120GB | Silverstone Fortress FT02 | Corsair VX450

Bah, forgot to add that. Atm on my current build im still using this -

    Xion supernova 600w

Thinking of getting something along the lines of 800w+ for the build I want to do, not sure on what to choose though. Any thoughts on a good motherboard and video card that will work for me? Other then wow I sometimes play swtor, bf3, sc2 and rift (when im really bored, lol.) As to the ram, that makes sense. For a while i was leaning towards corsair dominator gt -

which wasn't bad at $84 until i came across the following just now at $45.99, lol -

Also, the Ati's i've had in the past had cooling issues, might have just been bad cards though. If you know of a decent radeon I may give ati another shot.

I don't know the quality of that PSU you've got but 600W is plenty.
If you are willing to spend a bit of extra money you can get this Radeon 7870, it has a lot better performance than the GTX 560Ti. If you want something cheaper you have the Radeon 7850 which is still a bit of an upgrade from the GTX 560Ti.
This motherboard should do you good and is about $100 less.
The new RAM you picked is fine.
    Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz

Thanks!! I really appreciate the help!!

About the radeons, is it normal for them to run hot? I had one a few years back where no matter what cooling I tried it refused to go below 99F, hoping it was defective. Just so I know, when all the parts get here, what temps should I expect to see on the 7870 and at what temp should I get worried? If need be I can swap out the fans in the coolermaster storm case for yate loons, or noctuas.

Uhm 99F is really cold for a GPU, usually temps are meassured in Celsius(centrigade) and not Fahrenheit.
Anyway you should expect between 60 and 70C while gaming and perhaps up towards 80 if you push it hard with something like Furmark.

Most cards can handle temperatures up to 100C but it is recommended to keep it below 90.
