    First Build, Need Advice

So I'm looking to build my first PC, but have very little experience dealing with computer hardware. My budget is 1200-1400 dollars, give or take 100 dollars. The PC will be used mainly for gaming, but I would also like to be able to stream 1080p video onto a 42" Television/monitor. I do not need peripherals, but will require an operating system.
From the small amount of reading I have done so far, I plan on purchasing an i5-3570K processor and a mid-high to high end GPU. Recommendations on the components I would need to build the computer would be greatly appreciated.

** Deltrus Z77 Extreme4 approved build** (OP just an inside joke you can ignore this line)

This build should give you everything you need. Great performance and quality with both an SSD and HDD for storage. The GPU will handle anything you throw at it. There is enough power and connections for SLI if you ever want to go that route.

Why do people quote prices from Microcenter? How many people actually live within driving/pickup distance from that place?

I really hope people understand that MC severely undercuts competition in order to sell services.. It's not that different from a Best Buy in those regards.
IMO, save yourself some hassle and just pick a single resource (such as Newegg) to purchase the entire basket.

I completely agree with this, it makes returns and record keeping much much easier as well.

Yeah, sorry, I probably should have mentioned that I am from Canada and wish to purchase all the components from 1 or 2 online resources ( Amazon and Newegg). Thank you for the recommendations on those parts though.

Before you get your panties all riled up let me explain something.

First of all I had issues adding a GPU to the build in Chrome for whatever reason so I switched to Internet Explorer where I wasn't logged in. Why does this matter? Well it does because when you have a profile you can deselect MicroCenter or any other store for that matter and I honestly forgot. You can even view prices by merchant or list by a single merchant. You just gotta open your eyes.

Secondly there is absolutely nothing wrong in linking to a MicroCenter because for those people that do have one near them they can save a significant amount of money and if you left out MicroCenter how would people get to know about it?

Also each individual link/component links to multiple sites (in most cases) and whomever is buying can simply pick the store they want to buy from. If they're too lazy to do so well then that's their problem. The amount of useful information you get back is usually based on how much initial work you put into it.

Realize everyone here is helping out in their own free time (well in most cases anyways) so frankly you can take the advice as you want or you can basically figure it out on your own. If OP want's to use a single or two websites for his build even if using multiple sites makes it cheaper (sometimes) then it's really simple, add a note in your request post.

Lastly don't come in here and pretend you know why MicroCenter "acts" the way they do and and I can tell you as long as it's not illegal or immoral then I have zero issues recommending them and other cheap deals.

OP if you don't intend to do SLI/CF in the future we can find you a cheaper PSU and motherboard if it's pushing your budget too far.

I don't have much knowledge about SLI/CF, so in all likelihood (99%+), I will put the PC together and it will stay the same until I replace it in ~5 years.

Edited above build for a cheaper PSU. Really wasn't much to save by getting a different motherboard (using Amazon/NewEgg). Is the build looking okay to you then?

Here is the PC I made a week ago for my brother you will have to add windows to the list but, it's a 7.7 out of 7.9 on the Windows index score I only tested WoW and on Ultra in LFR it gets the capped 60 FPS.

Nice build congrats, Windows Index Score is useless. Similar build/cost to the one suggested in this thread although the build has a GTX 670 in there.
