    Dragon's Dogma

Anyone try this game? I honestly didn't know about it until very recently, but I've heard people compare it to dark souls (XOXOXOX!). So, I'm trying to decide whether to get this game or darksiders 2.

I've heard a lot of good, and I'll probably buy it eventually.

Amazing sig, done by mighty Lokann

As a massive fan of Dark Souls, I can safely say that Dragon's Dogma is a pretty good game. It isn't on the same tier as Dark Souls (one of my favorite games), and it has its flaws, but overall, it's a pretty good experience. The combat is very, very fun. It certainly has a lot of room for improvement, but it's worth the money, imo.

So far, I'm enjoying Darksiders 2 as well. You really can't go wrong with either one.

I enjoyed it. The combat system for all classes is very entertaining.
My first playthrough was as a sorceror, which was fun because a lot of the spells have that certain "oomph" feeling to them (meteor rain).

It does have some major annoyances however:

No fast travel/ Constant backtracking. On your first playthrough you'll barely be able to use the fast travel system, which means that you have to run across the world quite a few times just for some escort quest or to collect some reagents.

Constant monster respawns. This can get very frustrating in combination with the first point, because most of the respawned monsters don't really much in terms of XP/items.

For me personally the battles against the big monsters more than compensated for that. But it's your call.

The fast travel thing can be mitigated a bit with careful planning. Can't get rid of it all, but you shouldn't have to backtrack all the way across the map more than once or twice.

If you enjoy dark souls I'd have to say you'll probably enjoy Dragon's Dogma, unless the biggest thing you like about Dark Souls is the masochistic difficulty. It's not necessarily easy, and can definitely be extremely unforgiving for a bad character build or party build, especially early on, but it's not nearly the same sort of difficult as Dark Souls.

It's definitely far from perfect, but new, great ideas are rarely polished right off the bat.
