As I commented in The One Thread, this is very much good for spreading information about the game to more people. A lot of comments on that article suggest that this is the first time some people have even heard of GW2.

I hope you haven't forgotten my role in this little story. I'm the leading man. You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.
If you give in to your impulses in this world, the price is that it changes your personality in the real world. The player and character are one and the same.
What is this sorcery. That only just came up in my twitter dropbox.
It makes me laugh. I always used to come on MMO champion whenever I heard a roumer (I have no idea how to spell that word) about WoW, and it always used to be there, datamined like 0.6 seconds after it had been made available to the dataminers. Always very quick. Now that I've come on the forums many years later, the community is just as damn fast.
Surprised at 'never heard of it' though.

Shame, some other awesome games were deserving of the title. However only one winner there can be.
FIFA 13, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, World of Warplanes and Assassin’s Creed III all won the silver award for the huge amount of support they received.
Glad to see World of Warplanes up there
No Dust514 ? (((((
limited appeal.
Console gamers have no real buy in to the IP, and its just another shooter.
PC gamers who have the IP interest in EvE cant get it on PC.
Game looks ok, but I'm not going to get a console so I dont really care about it, seams to be a fairly standard reaction from a lot of Eve Players.
I'm quite supprised tbh. I knew gw2 was gaining alot of populairity/hype but didn't expect it to win. Anet got there handsfull it seems!
Well done, Arenanet!

I asked my magic 8-ball if we would experience server crashes on the 28th due to ArenaNet being completely blindsided by the number of people buying the game, the answer? It is decidedly so
