Can you tell me what was the end game in D2. And how is it different?
Don't say ubers as they were added in a much much later patch.

The end game is the exact same. Grind bosses for loot, so you can grind harder bosses for better loot, so you can grind harder bosses for better loot..... See where I'm going with this?

End Game does not exist in Adventure Games or Classic RPG's, There's a boss and thats it.
If you wish to continue its because you wanna twinkle your Character with the best things possible and if PVP is available.
There was dueling, D3 has no PvP whatsoever.
PvP was the end game and or ladder play. Thats what it was. It certainly wasnt spending real money to buy gear and raise the price of items through the roof in a way that dictates you use the real money anyway.
Why can't we say ubers? Diablo III came after Diablo II so in theory the third one should have stuff from the second in the package.
d2 didnt have an end game per say BUT it was released in totaly different time, you cant release a game today that is on par with a game released more then a decade ago and expect it to succeed
edit: i play d3 and i am a big fan of it, just so its clear

What's the point of the OP? That the end game is basicly the same yet people say D2 end game was good and D3 sucks? If so, there is no reason why that couldn't be true. 30 years ago people spent hours playing Pong and thought it was a good game, that doesn't mean it would be considered good if it came out today. But that doesn't change the fact that it was good at the time. Everything is relative.
D2 had end game that was reset evry month i think you either did PvP or the ladder. so stop saying that D2 dont have end game obviously you havent played the game then
I'm not saying that I'm saying the idea of games moving from 1-Infinity is that there's supposed to be progress. If a company knows X feature makes people happy why wait to put it in the third game when it worked fine and dandy in the second? Because it wasn't in the Vanilla version of the second? Can I just say that is kind of dumb...
That's not end game though - that's PvP. When talking endgame people usually refer to the PvE aspect, as in "killing a new baddy" or something you can do again and again to improve your character like gearing up or something - which you do through killing stuff, which was the exact same as in D2.

Your right I never touched D2 in my life. I just stayed up for nights on end in front of my pc doing nothing....
pvp is not end game.
leveling is not end game.
So why did you buy a game that was going to be just like D2? They said it was going to be like D2. No one ever said this was going to be some amazing new game.

Although arpg's don't have an "end game" i think what people are getting at is the fact that you grind the bosses not for loot for yourself(as it seems to never drop anything for your class) but loot to pawn on the auction house and you are limited to buying your upgrades from there which is quite off putting..also given the limitation on the character customization it leaves you very little to do other than pray you get good drops that will sell on the AH.
Saying that the paragon system looks interesting.

Diablo has never had endgame, it has had the end of the game. People just mistake the genre that Diablo is for something it's not.
It's like crossing an intersection. There's shit going on all over the place and you don't panic and act like an idiot then do you?
Dueling, especially low level dueling and gathering amazing sets for level 9, 18, 30, etc.
How is it different in 3? Well, PvP doesn't exist in D3, I'm not convinced they'll add it until well into 2013. Even when they do add it, it will be deathmatch arena style as opposed to open PvP. I doubt low leveling dueling will be an option, hostility and PK certainly won't be.
In PvM, the loot is dull, which will admittedly be helped by 1.04 but is a contributing factor for why I haven't consistently farmed since mid-June.
The style of farming is also different. In d2 you can log on to your MF char, kill meph 10 times in 15 minutes for a chance at something cool, then log off. In D3 to farm efficiently you basically have to commit at least 30-45 minutes to building 5 stacks and clearing a portion of the act to get some yellows, which makes it even more disappointing when all of them suck.
What would you define as end game then? To me, end game is whatever can keep the game entertaining for you once the max level has been reached or story exhausted, so pvp definitely fits into that classification.
