They both just agreed to play it as an ARAM....Regionals are next week and the big teams (e.g. Curse and Dignitas) don't want to show their big time strategies at MLG. Seems a little bit disrespectful to the tournament overall but it's a little bit hilarious that the finals are a troll game.

The two teams involved in the final (Curse & Dignitas) were disqualified due to colluding to share prize money.

Twitter posts regarding this incident. They made it clear that it wasn't the ARAM game itself that was the reason for the DQ, it was the prize money situation.

Wow. That is just idiotic. And incredibly disrespectful towards Riot and MLG. Got even less respect towards Dignitas and Curse after this trash.

I dont really see the issue with splitting the prize money, the important thing about this tournament was circuit points, and its not like one team was deliberately throwing the game so that the other team could get the points needed to qualify for the finals.

Also I didnt see anything in those two links about the prize money being shared?

The whole colluding thing is not true. If you watch Hubert's stream (the CEO of Curse) he has explained it. They did not agree to share the prize money. It mostly boils down to MLG/Riot being mad that they didn't take the finals seriously and played an ARAM. While it's not against the rules, they were not pleased.

They have zero proof other than "They said it in public." It's rubbish.

...With that being said, I see no evidence at all that one of the teams intentionally chose to lose. Unless they are using the ARAM as evidence, which goes back to my first point.

All Random All Mid. It's a game mode in which you pick a random champion and you're placed onto the tutorial map.

I guess I'm indifferent to the fact that they both got DQed. On the one hand, they both clearly earned their way to the finals legitimately, and played a (mostly) good match. But on the other hand, whether it makes sense or not, collusion is illegal and MLG can't ignore it. In my personal opinion, what people do with their prize money is their own business, and splitting is fine, as long as they both really do try to win.

At the moment neither Curse or Dignitas have admitted to the accusations of the collusion of the prize money. Everything at the moment is misinformation/rumors until an official statement is released. Curse has posted two videos apologizing for the ARAM, only mentioning the collusion as an "accusation".

My personal opinion on the matter: While I believe it may be possible that there was an agreement of splitting prize money for 1st and 2nd(Not too uncommon in esports/card game tourneys[and prizesplitting is not against MLG's rules]), I don't believe that any matchfixing happened. Dignitas has nothing to gain from throwing the tournament to Curse and in fact really needed that win to secure themselves a good seed for the NA regionals. Winning wouldn't affect Curse's ranking at all, so why would Dignitas agree to throw the game to them?:P That's just what I choose to believe as there aren't any solid facts out yet and I'm intently waiting on an official statement from either team.
On the ARAM, I found it incredibly enjoyable to watch but I can see how a lot of people viewed it as disrespectful. I am fairly disappointed that one of the few esports figures that I respect, TotalBiscuit, flamed the LoL competitive scene on Twitter, stating that this is evidence that nobody takes LoL Esports seriously.

I completely agree with MLG/Riot's decison to DQ both teams and provide the prize money to the 3rd and 4th place teams.

They're trying to grow the world of Esports, and are doing their best to nurture such growth in a professional and serious manner. Teams playing ARAMs, saying stupid things during pre/post-game interviews, carrying pink pillows, and any other "unprofessional" acts should be looked down upon and punished accordingly. The competitors are supposed to represent their organization and sponsors in the most professional way possible.

It's just where they're trying to bring pro Esports to...you can't develop a professional environment if the events are filled with the competitors getting away with silly bullshit. If I were a sponsor of one of these teams, I'd be highly disappointed as well.

I don't think this is the equivalent to that at all. What happened here is the equivalent to what tons of major sports teams due at the end of the season, resting the starters and limiting the playbook. Have home field advantage locked up? Try out some new people. Can't move up or down in the standings? Play vanilla and fold instead of showing your hand.

This actually promotes a game within LoL other than Summoner's Rift. They should have agreed to a Dominion game and more of us could have been happy, haha.

I think they were still stuck on SR map, it depends on who creates the game, but I assume its not the teams.
