Ive not done PVP but im seeing engineers doing a heck of a lot of damage . My ranger seems pretty squishy but maybe im just bad at that class ....

Guardians are ALWAYS at the top of DPS meters, and have the best aggro generation and the most defense. Their support is also crazy too, they're really good healers.

How about Mesmers? PvP wise and PvE wise?

They are the only ones that actually catch my attention.. so far.. I mean whats cooler than leaving illusions and stuff xD

Just pick something you think looks fun. Honestly don't know why people make choices on what to play and how to play based on what the FOTM 'OP' class/profession/race whatever is. Game has been out 2 days. You honestly think anyone has any REAL idea whats dominating in PvP? Anyone that tries to tell you 'facts' on this matter is blowing smoke up your ass...

For PvE guardians seem over the top. In PvP I think mesmers are mechanically a bit ridiculous mostly in part to the illusions in conjunction with occasional Moa. Dealing with skilled mesmers is just frustrating and actually *kills* your fun if you can believe that. It literally makes me want to go back to questing if I get a bad chain of Mesmer fights.

    I was joking. =P
The question of "what is OP so I know what to play" is a little silly. Everyone brings something significant to the table. The subject gets even more silly when you bring it into sPvP, because anything that is considered OP this early in a game should be chalked down to "people don't know how to counter it yet" until the test of time has proven 'favorable'. Like how people thought that warrior frenzy burst was OP before realizing "Oh, one dodge roll and their frenzy is basically wasted.".

I'd be interested to see some actual numbers, it's hard to tell. What I do know is that if I use my CDs right I can kill anything but warriors/guardians in a single cycle (as in, using all of my initiative) on my Thief. Guardians give me the most trouble...usually it turns into a stalemate...he heals, I heal, he heals, I heal. O_O

I like my guardian alot, but the necro is also quite a potent class, at least at lower levels, haven't got one past level 13 yet so dunno bout later in the game. Elementalists kill quite fast but die pretty damn fast too :P

Guardian is awesome in PvE and SPvP. In WvW, they're just boring. Our 1200 range weapon has a very slow projectile speed so good luck hitting anything moving at 600+ range.

That'd be due to so many people rolling pure damage at the moment. I'm sure you would have quite a different experience with a tanky elementalist or necromancer.

Whats the most OP profession? in PVP its the one that just finished killing you. as you can guess this tends to change frequently.

Race has no bearing on sPVP as the ratial skills are not used in that format. WvW it kinda depends, personaly I'm partial to the sylvari as haveing the most useful ratial skills but that is agian my preferance speaking there.

    Who is John Galt?

At the moment it's just a matter of figuring out which things work really well together to become OP as hell.

Rangers with DPS pets, 25 stack buff, might from crits and a sword for more might = godmode PvE
Warriors with all signets and Arms 10 point trait granting 40 precision per signet = 100% crit chance and godmode PvE

That's all I've played 20+ at the moment but I've got mates who are saying the same things about Mesmer, Necro and Ele. Once you figure out a good setup, good build and gear reasonably well you'll be a machine.

Then play one. :P No reason to be looking for the best to play just because it's the fotm or w/e. It seems ANet did a good job balancing everything for the most part. Just play something that sounds fun.

True. People are also new to the game. I mean no offense to the people I've killed but a lot of them could use a good read or two on their profession. It'll be interesting in a few months when people are better, are at 80, and are just...more experienced in general.

I feel like a pretty tanky Thief tbh. I get 4 dodges every 30s with my sigil and with all my stealths I don't go down easy. Thief is pretty much the whole reason I love GW2 right now.

Doesn't take long for that precision to be less of an impact. It is quite silly in the lower levels, though.

no no no no no..... you've chosen the wrong game if you think there is 1 OP class.... everything has their pros and cons

My engineer isn't built for damage but I hardly ever die in WvW unless I just get overwhelmed. Hell, I hardly ever die period unless I get overwhelmed. I've got tons of control and regen abilities. Elixir gun is a great gadget, the only downside is that you have to get up close to really do any damage with it which kind of sucks when you're on the walll of a keep.

On other note, an offensive/meditation guardian is one of the top at 1v1 (along side with spirit ranger). Good luck killing one that has better sustained damage than a warrior but also has at least 3 healing spells (#6 healing and usually two meditations healing 2k every use). A typical built one usually have 2.7k attack, 2.5k armor, almost 20k hp, and a whooping 67% crit chance.
