Would you date/be intimate with your best friends Ex?

my friend did this to her best friend, they spent almost every day together before hand, afterwards they barely ever see each other. Id only do this if i was very conifdent that it was a special relationship and not just some fling.
EDIT: i have however dated the ex of someone id been seeing shortly before, that didnt turn out great either.
