Guild Wars 2 : #1 in Ten EU Nations

So apparently NCSoft is reporting that GW2 is the number one selling game in the all formats video chart for 10 EU countries.

Guild Wars 2 now stands at number one in the official All Formats charts of the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands and Belgium – all the major territories within Europe.
    Not bad at all!

It does not make GW2 the great game i was hoping for, just confirms it was massively overhyped

I wonder why guild wars is so much more popular across the pond than in America. Maybe cause unlike SWTOR they didn't make all the bad guys speak with an English accent?

There are plenty of big games coming out soon that you can pre-order that they would have been competing with. MoP, Borderlands 2, Dishonored, Hitman, etc.

Those games aren't out yet. They don't report pre-orders as sales until the game actually launches. They might track the pre-orders, but it's not the same list...

Belgium is one of the major territories in Europe? really? Belgium?
I don't think this matters nearly as much as you think it does.

i don't know how pre-order works in other countries but here you don't pay for it until you get it. pre-order simply means they save you a copy on release date so you can pick it up or mail it to you. in both scenarios you pay when you receive it.

i haven't bought a hardcopy of a game for like 7 years so things could have changed. digital is the future

Console ports of old games and pre-orders aren't really stiff competition.

Notice how the list only has games that have been released and doesn't include pre-orders?

    GW2 had very little competition.

    EDIT: I mean, London2012 came 4th..... :P

Some of the bad guys speak with an 'English' (I use the term very cautiously, because Sylvari don't sound very English at all even though they're intended to be) accent. Hell, Caithe has the most convincing English accent, and her voice actor is American.

Free to play. Which basicly gives the game a greater market. Since a lot of people actually don't want to pay for playing a single game monthly like WoW for example.

Kudos Arena Net! Not bad at all for a PC only game.
    Sir Robin, the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot.
Who had nearly fought the Dragon of Angnor.
Who had almost stood up to the vicious Chicken of Bristol.
And who had personally wet himself, at the Battle of Badon Hill.

I love how people are like, "lol no competition", but if it were a game they liked, they'd be like, "It deserved it because it's a great game!"
