Lol only on the internet can something positive turn in to a turdfest :P I think its decent move but if people have paid for a headstart and didnt get it it really is just normal for a company to reimburse someway..wish they could reimburse me for only getting 24 hours out of the 72 I was supposed to get

I hope you don't believe they'd actually ever do this. That'd just be pure and utter ignorance, and nothing else.

I like GW2. Anyone thinking ArenaNet has an even slightly different mentality from other companies (money, money, money), and by that I mean ANY other company (companies that do charity are slightly different, but even they have personal gain in mind.), is fooling themselves.

    Marketing or Compensation? Both?

I am only using that as an example because that is a fresh in mind action another big MMO took that ended up giving players something because of what the company did.
What I call it? Protection. If they hadn't, people would've become upset. People would rage. Some people would quit, and that'd bring others with them.
Compensation is almost always marketing. They wouldn't do it if they thought they'd actually make losses from it.

No we dont. But some companies especially in the gaming secto are just too darn greedy and no Blizzard is not of them.

You know what I do? I log in and play the game. I did not see one single announcement on their log in screen or in game about this (please prove me wrong if you can, I actually hope you can). Where was that announcement?

edit: See, but even to prove theft of a motor vehicle you need to prove mens rea (guilty conscience). It isn't the same thing. Where in the games policy did it state, "do not buy objects if they appear to be of lower value than actual worth".
on the log in they have posted many times *to check there wiki for game update info and all* just cause you chose not to do it dose not mean its not there in some way. what do u want a anet gm to log into the game and say in map chat what there doing each min of the day.

Instead of "check wiki for game update info", how about "There is a current bug in the game allowing players to purchase items for 20 karma instead of 30k karma, this is a known bug and developers are working around the clock to fix it. Players should be warned that this is an exploit and if players are found using this exploit they can face an account suspension." That took me 1 minute to write.

or people could use common since and see that a level 80 vendor selling max level gear for 20 karma each is a bug....cause why would level 80 gear be cheaper then level 1 gear......common since go's a long way

*not ooo this must be a bug going but going to buy 1000's of this same item over and over and turn a HUGE profit im sure its not a exploit to abuse a bug in the game...*

even tho that took you 1min to write why must it fill up the small log in window that most don't even read as you have proven.

"Greedy companies" don't exist. Or actually, to be fair, all companies are "greedy". They exist to make money, if you consider that greedy then yeah, all companies are.

If, for example, Blizzard believes that they'll make a loss if they give out Lil' XT to everyone who had the Remote Chat (if they thought a lot of them would buy the pet anyway, and that nobody would complain/quit/not recommend the game to others), they wouldn't.
If, for example, ArenaNet believes that they'll make a loss if they compensate people who couldn't log in during the headstart (if, again, they thought a lot of them would remain just as happy and not complain/not quit/recommend it to others), they wouldn't do it.

They do it to make money. It's as simple as that.

Would it not be common sense to write the warning I just wrote? I'm not trying to be rude or anything and I hope I do not come across that way. That said, it needs to be emphasised that what Anet did does not entitle them to this position of "amazing company" for simply, doing their job.

common since like i said before people need to learn to use it.

level 80 karma vendor selling the best gear for 20karma why is it so much cheaper then level 1 gear it must be a bug.....

You're right, because every single person playing gw2 must look at every karma vendor to know the prices. Your argument doesn't make sense. I'm level 35, and I haven't looked at a single karma vendor yet, so how would I know this was a bug?

Officializing exploits before they're fixed is NEVER a good thing.

"Hey guys, if you go over here you can get all kinds of cool stuff almost free, and then you can sell them and make a fortune, or you could salvage it and use the materials to powerlevel your crafting, or you could use it in the mystic forge to get even better stuff. But doing that's bad, mkay?"

You really think LESS people would exploit it then? If anything MORE people would do it.

Didn't the other guy who insisted players should use "common since", state they did officialise it?

Only after it was fixed... unless I'm mistaken. Which is known to happen.

    <_<

    ...occasionally.

    Haters will hate.

Amazing how the mudflinging continues even when Anet is trying their very best to keep everyone happy.

    - They stopped digital sales to guarantee a good experience for those already playing.
    - Refunded for missing headstarts.
    - Were forgiving for exploiters/botters in their first steps in the game to show people that they won't tolerate abuse and they will ramp up on the punishments.

But still, whine, whine and whine. And the counter arguments get thinner and thinner, really. "That's what they're supposed to do!", "What about a warning that you can't exploit?!", "How about patch notes on the launcher!". Really, fuck that, they have more important issues to deal with.

"I paid 60 dollars, they should make the game exactly how I want it and should prioritize what I want them to prioritize!"

    Self-centered, spoilt brats.

Meh, the whole point of the digital upgrade is to feel special honestly. Hard to feel special if half the players have it.

huh, so tell me... did you get any compensation for not being able to play on release day of d3? i dont think so
Did you get anything for not being able to play any wow expansion on release date? i dont think so
I got maybe 3 days of gametime throughout 7 years from blizz and thats it
Who cares that back in vanilla either they or telia fucked something up and after 18 o'clock my ping was reaching 2k and i wasnt able to play for 2 months, and yes it was their fault, not my isp. Reason for that is simple, either blizz/telia fucked something up or people throuhghout whole europe with like 100 different isp's who had that problem happened to suffer from 100 different isp's accidentally fucking same thing up at the same time right after blizzaqrd maintence...

Or maybe shall we talk about high standards how once there was some big issue with something, cant remember what it was but forums were swarmed with that issue. Some random guy after like a week or two posted a fix and said what was causiung all of this...What did blizz do? they deleted his thread and posted that fix themselves and then were deleting threads of people who noticed that and where asking wtf... Does that sound as "high standard" company? i would argue.
Im not gloryfying Anet here, i really dont care, but if you intend to bash 1 company, look at others first. Especially blizz who is being considered "flawless" by morons
