    diablo 3 expansion plot?

    hi,

i believe that diablo 3 will get an expansion with act 5.
well, when you look closely at the ending video where diablo gets thrown down from heaven, he dissolves, but one part remains falling down to earth.
i think its the black soulstone, still containing the 7 souls of the evils.

now this is where i think the expansion connects.
leahs mother is still around, maybe she uses the power for himself, or uses it on some dead guy that was powerfull in his former life. maybe a nephalem to create an even more powerfull diablo.

what do you think might happen?

i watched the video over and over again( about 20 times)... especially the dissolving part... everything got destroyed to its last pixel.. maybe 0.5 pixels survived or im blind... but im pretty sure it has to do something with Adria.

    Give us Andariel #2 :P

I suspect our gemcrafter might be able to play a part in the expansion plot - remember he is searching for another "crystal", that we never did find yet.

At about 0:40 the black soulstone comes into clear view. It falls towards Sanctuary, and never is it shown destroyed.

Adria returns and we fight her in a swamp.

Thus we have a new'ish villain, a new zone (and just like all the other zones in D3, they are something we already saw in D2).

Amazing sig, done by mighty Lokann

Black Soul Stone falls onto the grave of Deckard Cain, reviving him. However he is revived with seven soul's of evil within him causing him to turn to evil. Acts 5 - 8 would see you fighting him as various aspects each time you defeat him, removing one of the souls of evil, but making the rest stronger.

Final encounter would be the exercising of Diablo from Cain's body, freeing him from the torment.

Wouldnt we free a diablo from his torment of staying a while and listening for eternity ? Im kinda sure that sharing body with cain would be quite traumatic for prime evils.

Anything after fighting Diablo in his most powerful form seems unimpressive and anti-climatic to me.
We've also seen heaven on the brink of destruction, so can't surpass that either.

Blizzard has really made it difficult for themselves to come up with a fitting story that doesn't feel anti-climatic.

Anyway, I bet we'll see Adria again. But judging from Diablo 3's storyline, the only fitting enemy that could be more powerful than Diablo in his most powerful form is to fight an evil Nephalem. And that's really boring if you ask me.

Somehow diablo will come back, I dont know how, but he will

Diablo 2 saw you fighting a brother of Diablo, Baal i think.
Would seem a little repetitive to fight Diablo again in another Act.

My guess is Cain plays a roll, possibly possessed by the Lord of Hell. Cain wouldnt be evil, but possessed, so upon 'killing' him, you save him and he's back.

Cains been in all 3 games so far, cant imagine him NOT being in Diablo 4

The Black Soulstone is still intact. Adria is still alive. Malthael, Archangel of Wisdom, has gone insane has been hinted to cause some real trouble. Metzen has hinted that Leah's spirit might still be alive somewhere; meaning part of the expansion might be about bringing Leah back to life.

The story of Diablo 3 was rather predictable and anti-climatic anyway, so my excitement for the expansion is not that high.

Unlikely, but not impossible, given how prone to double-speak Blizz announcements can be.

D3 isn't the end of the Diablo franchise, but it, along with the expansions to it, are supposed to wrap up this storyline.

Can't tell you how hard it is to try and convince people this, especially when the video was first shown. Knew the first time I saw the end-game cinematic that this was not the last of the stone.

However, an equally interesting tidbit in the video is that, afterwards, "faces" show up in the clouds as light breaks through.

You have no idea how baffled I am to hear that first part. People actually needed convincing that the soulstone wasn't done? It was very obviously and explicitly spared the disintegration of Diablo's corpse...and the fall down into the clouds was pretty damn foreshadowing.

Going to have to watch that cinematic for the "faces" now though. Never noticed them, and my curiosity, she is piqued.

It's not so much faces as it is a pair of eyes, in two (maybe three) areas. The foreground one is far too purposely shaped for me to believe otherwise.

Calling it now that Adria is actually Lillith (She's the only one that's never really been confirmed to have been killed) Also this particular quote from the book

“Lilith is her true name, an evil older than the world! She is the mother of deceit, the mistress of betrayal! You are indeed strong for having survived against her, my son.”

The bolded part works perfectly into what Adria did. Lillith also "created" the Nephalem and killed off a good bunch of them aswell. Thus she had no problem "killing/using" Leah.

I figure it will have something to do with adria, or maybe since diablo stabbed that angel maybe it corrupted him and could be something along those lines or maybe a quest to save leah's soul?
