The Super Mario Galaxy games would be my pick. Best platformers I've played since the SNES.

Skyward Sword a is close second, and after that would be some handheld games, although you only mentioned consoles in your post.

God of War, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Skyrim all HUGE titles. I don't know which ones is definitive for the current generation (like Halo was earlier) but they're all up there for sure. Best? Completely subjective.

Wait how the heck could I forget: CoD. None of the above titles come anywhere close to defining the current gaming generation.

The best console series would probably be Mass Effect and/or The Elder Scrolls (especially Skyrim). I love them both however I am also a racing fan and to be honest Need for Speed is my fav series, GTA is also an amazing series.

There are so many cool games 2012 tho especially those games that are going to be released the next few months.

I absolutely loved Alice: Madness Returns, waited so long for a sequal after the first and it didnt disappoint!

Few others:

-Forza 4
-Gran Turismo 5 (even with its dodgey framerate)
-Mario Kart Wii (purely for the online multiplayer)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Just an amazingly fun game that have lasted ever since it came out, the perfect game to play with friends.
