Also, that size is big for cannabis? Don't those plants grow bigger? Or is it just rare to see this size because people just smoke everything when they can?

It's entirely possible it was an accident. My great grandmother accidentally had opium poppies growing in her garden before the war.

I doubt they got it at a "boot" sale but they prob did not know what it really was. Why would anyone be selling weed plants at a garage sale? and why would they sell them to some old ppl?

Years ago I dealt with an indictment while serving on federal grand jury, on this case a DEA agent came in for a drug bust. The way they determined that the person was growing marijuana was the fact that the plants were starting to push out glass ceiling tiles of the greenhouse and made the plants visible. So, while this plant is big, there have been bigger ones.

Seems so bizarre to confiscate a plant. It's not like they were growing a triffid back there... I think its such a waste of resources/manpower for police to go around chasing stuff like this.

OT: I could quite easily see a daft, old couple growing a marijuana plant completely unaware of its potential use. Have you talked to a someone with senility lately? It's a miracle some of them are gardening in the right yard!

Yeah I think it's probably a case of the old boy getting dragged round the car boot by his missus and he spots it and thinks "oh, that looks nice, would look good in the garden" more than anything suspicious - I'm pretty sure my Gran wouldn't know what a cannabis plant looked like so it's not really surprising!
