To the OP, I agree with your complaint, but not the way you put it.

Epic gear has always needed xmuted materials (well, last couple xpacs at least), so I'm on board with that.

The complaint that is legitimate, and is burried in the middle of your post, is the belt buckle. Normally, that is the one thing Blacksmiths get to craft, put on AH, and make some money. But the living steel, needed for the epic armor, competes with that. I'm using my alchy alt to make my living steel to craft my armor. I'm not wasting a day's xmute on a belt buckle. The buckle normally has a steep cost, especially for the begining, pyrium and such, and that's fine. But I agree, living steel shouldn't be the mat.

If it took like 10 ghost iron, 5 trilium and 5 kyparite or something, I could see that. The belt buckle should not require living steel.

So while I agree with you, your post comes out yelling about how BS is the only prof that requires mats from another prof. That's the wrong point to make. You don't need to come off so aggressive, just "this bothers me, does anyone else agree?" And put your strongest point forward.

    Unless you're just trolling us.

This my friend doesnt worth to lose a sleep over it. When the game rule changes you either adapt or quit ,there is no need to cry for it. Making buckle needs a living steel now? Alright, start lvling alchamy char and deal with it, prety simple when you look at it without raging.

    Can you see it now?

You guys are mistaking gathering proffesions with crafting ones.

That's what i'm trying to say...

ALCHEMISTS need HERBALISM to be mostly self-sufficient at max skill
LEATHERWORKERS need SKINNING to be self-sufficient at max skill
ENGINEERS need MINNING to be mostly self-sufficient at max skill
JEWELCRAFTERS need MINNING to be mostly self-sufficient at max skill
TAILORS need NOTHING(kill humanoids for cloth) to be self-sufficient at max skill
BLACKSMITHERS need MINNING to level up to 600, but once there we need ALCHEMISTS or we cannot craft belt buckle / epic gear.
    I'll fix it for you...

ENGINEERS need MINNING + ALCHEMY + JC to be mostly self-sufficient at max skill
JEWELCRAFTERS need MINNING + ALCHEMY to be mostly self-sufficient at max skill and not so long ago (in Cata) HERBALISM and ENCHANTING were required also

Go cry in a corner now

If you have a level 85 alchemist, you can easily get it to 600 in alchemy without leveling any higher. Living Steel transmutes give +5 skillup all the way to 600.

I leveled a blacksmith/miner to 90; have a lvl 86 herbalist skinner, and have two lvl 85s with 600 professions (one an enchanter, one an alchemist). Skilling up professions is very easy in this expansion.

    Leatherworking is dependant on skinning
Blacksmithing is dependant on mining/alchemy, can make huge profit
    Jewelcrafting is dependant on mining
Engineering is dependant on mining/alchemy, makes almost no profit

But isn't his complaint about one item also? Belt buckle?

Also gem transmutes come from ore and JC

I'm sure this has been said before, but I'll say it anyway. You really need 3 professions to do BS at 600. Mining for BS mats. Alchemy for living steel. And herbalism to lvl alch. That is stupid. A crafting profession shouldn't be reliant on another crafting profession. Now I don't see any problem with it needing something from a second gathering profession, but not a crafting one.

As for leveling up an alt in Alch, I guess I'll get started now, .

How many belt buckles do you use every raid? Let me guess - 2-4 belt buckles every raid, right? RIGHT? Oh wait... you use it 2-4 times per raid tier (aka once per month in average).

Seriously people, stop QQing over nothing

they could fix it by making it take a spirit of harmony and 10 trillium bars.
why stop at 10 though, 10 is easy to get, how about a spirit and 20 trillium bars?

I don't know what you are talking about, all I use my Blacksmithing for is for glove / bracer sockets.... with the current mat of a Living Steel, it will make Belt Buckles always have a good value to them, compared to how easy they were to make before, they were practically useless.

  15. #75
Btw, on the side note, I wonder what's gonna be the next name for such items. Because it will be a Burning Legion expansion, I guess we will have "titanforged steel" or smth?
Eternal used in Wrath is a veeery strong word. Ebon and Living less powerful (wtf blizz?). Poor logic, blizz failed.

On topic: alot of WoW players have alts, it's common as hell there. Make an alchemist alt and profit.

your argument only looks at what you want to see. You say alchemy as a secondary profession is not an answer. The truth is a jc can't mine. They have to have the mining skill as a secondary profession. An alchemist can't herb. They have to have herbalism. All the professions are designed with synergy in mind. If you decide at random that you don't like the combo you got, there really isn't anything anybody can tell you.

Tying a belt buckle to a one-day cooldown also used for epic armor, weapons, mounts and whatnot was a really stupid move.

It's pretty much going to ensure that lazy baddies can justify not having one on their heroic dungeon drops. Hell I didn't even use one until I got a belt from Stone Guard.

Blacksmith just happens to require another crafting profession in order to make top end gear (saw it in Cata as well). It does suck that they decided to make the buckles use a single transmute per day item though - guess that's why I have 3 alchemists.
then by your logic minning should do living steel. OP's right, he just missed the point.
alchemy is NOT a gathering profession nor is Blacksmith, so the living steel could be shared

I know...that's why most of comments here are like "make a char with alch"...Really? That's the easy way around. I just think this needs fixing because is not on pair with LW/Tailoring for example.
Also I didn't mention Engi on my post but I know it's like BS, requires alot from other proffs.

In Cata I had a JC+miner Alch+herb(no in this server where i got BS/miner) and I know how powerful they are to generate insane income.
I just wanted to be able to make some income which BS+miner since it's the right combo! So if I can't craft my own stuff...I think theres a problem here with this proff.

    That's my point.

I think some comments here just flame me because they don't want blizz to change anything so they can make a gazzilion profit with alch still!
