Would you rather work... part 2

Assuming a 40 hour work week and assuming you can switch the schedule to 'start' on any day of the week, would you rather work:

    1 - 10 Hours|10 Hours|10 Hours|10 Hours|Off|Off|Off
    2 - 10 Hours|10 Hours|Off|10 Hours|10 Hours|Off|Off
    3 - 8 Hours|8 Hours|8 Hours|8 Hours|8 Hours|Off|Off
    4 - 8 Hours|8 Hours|8 Hours|Off|8 Hours|8 Hours|Off
    5 - Other, please state.

10 hours a day Monday - Thursday if I could.

Would give you some nice prime free time.

I'd rather work 3 12's and be considered full-time still, but if we are bound by a 40 hour week, I'd pick option 1.

I'd prefer number 3. Though I work way more hours than 40, I much prefer to not have days off that aren't the weekend. I have a hard enough time not going insane on the weekends.

I picked number three. I am a creature of habit, and I'm accustomed to this pattern, with occasional work on the weekends as necessary.

I would love to (or so I think), work hard for a period. Then have a longer time off. Probably wouldn't suit me though, but it sounds like heaven to have a lot of extra spare time.

Like for example many oil-rig workers here in Norway only work like 16 weeks each year, and they get paid extremely well in addition.

Again, it sounds great, but I doubt I could do it. I love having days off each week... with shorter days.

Depends on the job and my commute man.

Definitely I'd stay longer days if it meant I had an extra day off, and I'd prefer a block of days off (depending on the job) for super nice leisure time.

Hum, again, depending on the job I might even say 12/12/12/4/Off/Off/Off depending on a lot of stuff.

Number 1 for sure. Nothing beats having fri/sat/sun off. Having a day off in the middle of a work week blows imo! You can't really do anything such as go out or stay up late because you have work in the morning

Number 1, although after about a month I would probably wish I had picked number 3, so that I don't come home every day with barely the energy to even eat before collapsing into bed haha

    1. Long weekends are great.

Also I'm very scattered brained so I'll be more productive in fewer, longer sessions and more, shorter ones.

    3. I like that "Friday" feel where I get home and can stay up however long, knowing that the next day is off.

Probably option one....eight hours is a good day of work, but whats another 2 for 4 days to score an extra day off.

Depends if it's an intense manual labor job or just something like data entry. If the former, I'd go with 4. Having a mid-week break to recuperate and regain my strength would be nice, but if it's the latter, I'd say 1.

Since my current "job" is school, I'd say 3, since I feel that that's the most conducive to learning.

    Some work rotating 3x 12's, 4x 12's. (36+48)/2=42 hours per week average.

I actually fantasize about option 3 while at work, but any of those is an upgrade from 8 hours|6 hours|9 hours|8 hours|off|10 hours|10 hours|

I think the idea that we all "have to" work 40 hour weeks to be something that should go the way of the dodo.

    So, option 5.

4 10's or 5 8's would work best for me with two days in a row off. I've done the whole split days off, and it's exhausting.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

    Just, be kind.

Yeah I kinda agree, but I was interested to see how people liked to have time off and how people liked to work so I used the most commonly thought of amount of hours. I'm rather surprised that more people prefer 1 over 2, as I would expect that having a day break between a couple days of work would be more desirable than having an extra day of break on the weekend.

If it was 5 days of work a week I would not want a split break, but with 4 10-hour days having one to split the days into pairs would be awesome I think. Gives you a bit of rest during those times when work sucks (when you're trying to rush around to do everything).
