Possible to Throttle Someone's Bandwidth on a Router?

    Background:

Girlfriend's father is in a ridiculous phase where he follows a couple of sites that constantly release / upload new Torrents for games. He's so into it that he leaves his PC on 24/7 and is home and most definitely downloading during our guild's raid times. Their connection speed isn't the greatest (10 mbps at best) but they have no ceiling on their usage. My girlfriend (barely) raids with very high ping, frequent disconnects, vent lag, etc etc and it's affecting her performance healing our group.

    Question:

Is there a way for her to modify the router / use some sort of software that will limit his download speed or increase the amount of bandwidth that she is allotted WITHOUT physically unplugging his cable from the router?

    Router: Linksy's WRT54G

Thank you for any responses or insight for this issue!

DD-WRT supports Quality of Service (which can prioritize game traffic over torrent traffic)- http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index.

He should be able to throttle his own bandwidth without turning off the torrent entirely so if she can ask him to do that that would be simplest solution.
Simply go into the program options for whatever he's using to download torrents (Probably uTorrent) and lower the bandwidth cap.

He wouldn't throttle it himself for her,
will look into the DD-WRT link

if that's the case, then aside from traffic shaping software, you are pretty much done, if it's his internet and his house, you go by his rules, end of story

Or he could stop being a douche and stop for a few hours to let his daughter raid?

Locking this thread. We're not here to help people screw over their parents. The correct answer to this is her saying: "Dad, I want to use the internet and your streaming is negatively affecting me". If he doesn't respond to that, then there's not really a whole lot that can be done, aside from purchasing her own internet service.
