    [Books] H.P. Lovecraft

Hello, I want to start reading some of Lovecraft's books, but where do I start? Which book should I begin with?

If you can find a book collection of all of his short stories, that'd be neat. I found one at my library.

Ones I liked: (I didn't get to read them all, so some good ones will be missing.)
    Call of Cthulhu (no brainer)
    Rats in the Walls
    The Outsider (personal favorite)
    Pickman's model

It is most interesting to read the stories in the order that Lovecraft published them, as you will see the universe evolving as you read, recognize references to other work, and have a more exciting reading experience that way. This may serve as a guide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._P._L...t_bibliography

If you are only interested in getting a feel, The Call of Cthulhu, The Nameless City, and At the Mountains of Madness will get you suitable chilled.

Edit: also agree wil Skelington on A Shadow Over Innsmouth.

Also pickup At the Mountains of Madness, The Thing on the Doorstep, and A Shadow Over Innsmouth. These are some of his best.

Have a Kindle? If so: http://www.amazon.com/The-Definitive...s=hp+lovecraft

99 cents for 67 of his stories. It is phenomenal.

"The Colour Out of Space" is an excellent starting point.
