I'm looking at a laptop with a gt650m card. I can't find info on whether it's gddr5 and gddr3. How does this affect gaming performance (1600x900 or 1080p resolution). Also, on nVidia's information page I think they show a 1gb gddr5 version, or 2gb gddr3 version. Now in the new iMacs they have a 512gb gddr5 gt650m. Can someone help me process this data so I can choose the best option for my needs!
Not that i've looked t the specs or anything... but logically I find it very unlikely that a 600 series GPU would be using GDDR3 instead of the (I now assume) standard GDDR5
There are low end 600 series that use DDR3. There is a noticeable difference in games between the same card with DDR3 and DDR5. If you could link the laptop we may be able to find additional information by looking up the model info.
Laptop isn't out yet, it comes out tomorrow i think. Asus ux500vz. They have a preview of a similar version on Newegg (it might be a different model number slightly, I think they have different branding names depending on part of the world). But here it is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834230672
This is the only thread I could find with any reference to the GPU memory which according to the member is in fact DDR5. However, since it's not out yet, I wouldn't depend on that too much.
