I hate you for saying this... whether you're trolling or not I'm bound to stay seated until the ushers kick us out >.<. Thanks a lot for that xD

This makes me think that the remake will be reviewed from the viewpoint of a revision of the bible - with great rage and the belief that the original was perfect in every possible way.

I'll have to check it out myself, without reading too much into any source's opinions on it.
Ok are we talking about the same movie? All these years I've laughed at Evil Dead, it was a horrible movie and that's why the sequels are comedies. Yes it has a cult following but not for being a good horror movie, but simply because it was so bad it was good.

I'm probably in the minority though, just this morning on the radio they had a list of top 10 horror movies and Evil Dead was on the list. I love horror movies, though it's rare that one will scare me (more than a startle), but that's why I like watching them, hoping I'll get freaked out. Evil Dead the origional was horrible IMO and in my friends opinions as well. It should be declared a comedy. I'm excited for this rework, hopefully they've done it right.

I saw Evil Dead the play, it was a riot. No horror, just lots of blood and humour.

I know, that's how I feel about it. But, just check its score on Rottentomatoes: 98%.

Just got back from seeing it, it was pretty good. It had a nice gleeful, old-school vibe to it.

On my ongoing favorite movies of 2013 list, I am putting it at #5 out of 8.

Did anyone else find that the whole movie seemed to be an allegory for drug addiction? Or am I just imagining that?

Trying to decide if I want to see this. It just seems to be following the modern trend that gore = scary which isn't the case at all.

Cringing and wanting to throw up is not the same as being scared and triggering the flight or fight adrenaline response.

Probably not for you, after thinking about it, it was really not scary, but most scenes could be Slayer music videos.

I thought they were gonna have one of those movies where you squirm at the tension the whole time, but it was fun; it wasn't silly, but it was over the top, it was within my expectations and I had a good time watching it. I intentionally avoided re-watching the original, its been awhile since I've seen it, I didn't want it fresh in my mind upon seeing the new one. I wouldn't complain about the gore or blood, the original had plenty of both, just in a less convincing way, effects wise. I would hope anybody who wants to see this movie would go in and enjoy it, I did, and do stay 'til the credits are done.

One of the most refreshing horror movies I have seen in a VERY long time. It had pretty much everything what people want in movies these days,(in a movie like Evil Dead at least) lots of blood, gore, tension, no fake ass looking cgi and not some PG13 piece of shit that is riddled with cheesy jump scares that have been done to death over and over again. I loved the fact that the violence got worse and worse as the movie progressed as well, and? FUCKING AMAZING ACTING!!! And that final kill in the movie? Brilliant! I was totally not expecting to see something that crazy.

Only thing that pissed me off about this movie is that I saw the red band trailer as soon as It was released on the net and in my opinion it gave a lot of the movie away. I wish I could have walked into the movie without knowing any of the gory details. I also feel that the demons were dispatched a little too fast in the movie, making little to no time for them to have fun with Mia and her friends

As for the scene at the end of the Credits? I didn't really get it because I have only seen the original Evil Dead and none of the Sequels :P I was the only one in my theater to stay back and wait for the credits to roll lol!

I'm planning to go and see this movie again right before it ends its run in my city as well, I can't wait to see the unrated blu-ray version! I can't even begin to imagine the things they had to cut out to make the movie rated R instead of NC-17 :O

    OMG SPOILERS!

Saw it on Saturday, So first off to comment on your view:
I agree with the trailer issue, but that's the same risk you take with seeing any trailer. Example: When she brought the box cutter downstairs, I knew what Mia was going to do with it and was thinking "Here it comes" but wasn't at all cringing when seeing it because I already knew.

I enjoyed it, it had a very Evil Dead feel but still well acted and modernized. It didn't scare me but depending on your scare sensitivity it could scare some people. There was only one scene that made me cringe, and that was the machette to the knee cap. And the only part that made my hair stand a bit was when he was in the basement looking into the well full of water, and then turning around to see Mia at the door and she instantly floats towards him.

Finally: The end Credits. For those who are really currious but don't want to stay until the end, here's what you'd miss: The last half of the credits has the voice recording of the guy that first translated the Evil Dead book. Same recording you hear in the original movie. The part that everyone tells you to stay for is right at the VERY END: Ash's (Bruce Campbell) face in siloette on the screen, he turns to look at the camera and says "Groovy" and then it ends. Funny... not worth waiting for in my opinion.

What I heard from Bruce and Alvarez was that they wanted to bring the full slate of Evil Dead movies to 7, they are at 4 right now, the ambition is Army of Darkness 2, sequel to Evil Dead remake, and then a 7th movie that brings the two together

obviously a lot would have to go right to reach that point, but a #1 weekend is a great start
