    Oh no, the 3770 will fit in the 2011 socket, just like you can fit a small rock in a large container. It just won't work, and the wrongly placed grounding pins and the increased power delivery will probably break/fry/destroy (delete verb(s) as per personal preference) the CPU. The other way around, of course, would be like trying to fit a large rock in a small container (i.e. the container or the rock will break).

    My question to the OP is, why not just build it yourself? You will save an assload of money and learn how computers are assembled in the process. There are literally thousands and thousands of PC build guides and walkthroughs on the internet and books in stores/libraries.

    You never got back to us on what he'd typed in a hurry. What did that mean? Was it a 3930k or 3820 processor, or a Z77 motherboard?

    im waiting for it still, one of the parts that came in wasnt correct for it, so hes had to re order it in.

    Yes that's true, however, its been replaced and fixed, he's delivering the computer to me tomorrow

    So we will see what we r dealing with in 24hrs time.
