    Is America in Trouble?

After the elections (I didn't support either party) I just thought is America in trouble with either party in power? Like their debt is insanely high that it's almost impossible to pay off. My question is "America is it in trouble?"

    short answer: no.
long answer: not anymore than any other time.
It's like crossing an intersection. There's shit going on all over the place and you don't panic and act like an idiot then do you?

Not anymore than before the election, and you weren´t in trouble then.

Sovereign states the size of the US can't go bankrupt. They have too much capital and can simply monetize their debt if it grows too large.

Only way were in trouble is if we go to war again. We just don't have the money for that.

Monetizing the debt is already happening, and as you well know it's not indefinitely sustainable.

Considering that POTUS has extremely limited power over domestic policy, and that every POTUS since World War 2 has had the exact same approach to foreign policy I somehow doubt this particular election will result in anything different.

When they introduce a new currency or simply issue a declaration of absolution then I will consider it monetized.

The danger is not just to ourselves, but the rest of the world.

Maybe when they see what Unleashed Obama does, they will understand.

    Hehe...

I love delusions like this one. Obama and the Democrats owned the executive and legislative branches of government for two years. He could have gone on a reform binge that would have made FDR look like a conservative in comparison. Instead, he barely got a gutted Obamacare out the door. Obamanation? Hardly...

What do you think Quantitative Easing (QE) is if not monetization? The Fed buys shitloads of US public debt.

the whole thing of the dept is weird for me, we keep spending money when we are in the negatives, is there a point when it cant go anymore or can it just keep going down and spend what we want? spending money we dont have what makes a stopping point pretty much, or is it tied to when other countries stop loaning money?

Very true. My point is that it's not an issue of the US going bankrupt because there are always failsafe options.

Most US debt is held domestically, actually. The stopping point is..well, whenever the currency hyperinflates and becomes worthless.

If a freakin mormon is close to winning the election, yes, you probably are in trouble. I mean cmon. He is expecting for Jesus to come back for him and the rest of the mormons because they apparently are the chosen ppl.
