Only the reinforcements phase were annoying, lag was fine on my overflow.

The others phases were pretty fun, and it had that epic feeling, especially the phase we had to run up on the spiral with those millions of banelings running towards us.

The very nice rewards at the end of the event made it really worth it.

i actually had fun doing the event on sunday because it was playable without any mentionable lag. except for the two very long "reinforcement events" it was quite epic. the event on friday was just senseless because you couldnt do anything.
the saturdays event i wasnt online so i cant say anything about it.

Rewards are ANet's Achilles' heel as it seems. They try hard and harder and people get more and more disappointed about it. A lot people enjoyed the last phase of the event as best they could even bore with the usual lag.

The thing which ANet did not prepare for in that event was that overflows were and will always a bit desync'd due to different levels of skills, lag and population levels. So if you happened to disconnect you may have ended in a stage much farther a head if you were so lucky to be able to log back into the game. Thus the reward pattern at the end was equal to killing a random zone boss. Which may be bearable in repeatable events like zone bosses but not in one time events where drop chances for specific type of items were increased which just adds insult to injury.

TL;DR: People can bear with bugs, glitches, lag and disconnects in the normal game much easier as it means the reward may come with a delay. They barely tolerate it in seasonal events where missing out may be an annual phenomenon only however in one-time events they are understandably much less tolerant to say the least.

Thanks for that tip, it's good to know, I actually was wondering what would happen if you had no money to ress anymore.

If everyone else has to release to secure the area enough to rez you, then you really should make the run back with them.
I kind of agree. I understand the people who were buffed to 80 and had no waypoints there except the one from where they landed, but the rest not so much.

At one point we were withing a stone's throw away from Camp Kraka. It had been conquered by a veteran kraka and some eggs, so I said to people, join me to clear it out so we have a closer waypoint. I think I only had like 5 people come with me out of 50 to help... And people were complaining they were bored fighting the veteran krakas outside while doing nothing.

I spoke with the salad requesting donations and the gal over by the wishing well (wishing you'd get something useful). None of these people ever mentioned a boat when I spoke to them. The only other mail I got was the one that showed me the final event location on the unexplored map. The only linking zone is Sparkfly, and a dozen or two players were wandering around trying to find the way in, so I'm sure I'm not the only one that never received any information about a boat. I'll chock that up to another bug I guess.
Fair enough then. I think the biggest criticism on this event is the amount of bugs.

Phase two suffered from having bugged npc's, which was a little disappointing as even after they had been fixed, you ended up locked out of the follow on stuff.

Phase three was awesome! No lag, and it really seemed as if you were taking part in a large scale battle. The fight to plant the explosives in the hive was simply epic, what with the rolling crabs and laughing at all the idiots that still don't know how to dodge or that standing in green stuff / red circles is bad. The follow on battle to drive the ancient boss across the zone and into the hive was reminiscent of scenes in Starship Troopers. I think Arena Net got the difficulty of the zone / mobs spot on, its just a shame so many players clearly weren't up to the task.

So whilst the weekend event was far from perfect, phase three has to be one of the most epic mmorpg events ever, in terms of both scale and pure fun.

I do understand that people with lower end computers may have suffered due to so many people being online at the same time, but really GW2 is a current game and should be played on a current system if you want to enjoy it to its best.
You simply have no idea of the lag and bugs that were around last night... lower end computers? we're not talking about FPS drops here, we're talking about 60+ seconds skill delay and constant disconnects

As I said, phase one had a couple of minutes lag at the start with 5 to 10 second ability delays, but phase three didn't have any lag at all for me. Perhaps you were playing on an overcrowded shard.

the event was horrible to me and Guild Wars 2 has gone downhill. The combat has become slow and boring and with this event... a brain dead monkey could handle the game and the lackluster entertainment ArenaNet has graced us with. I really do miss games being hard and requiring tactics; but hey this is what WoW and Halo has done to the gaming world (My opinion). For me I am going back to UO the longest running MMO that still has a monthly fee and still out shines today's MMO's. Before the flaming is brought against me, yes I found both GW2 and WoW to be very bad games and cannot wait till those companies who have ran two amazing product into the dirt and spat on it, lose their golden egg and fall behind the Indy companies that are now paving the way. See you MMO-Champion, thanks for all the fucking stupid crybabies and brainwashed fans that will defend their love child to the Death.

    Love Zeelic

P.S Been a reader of the site sense day one and I can no longer stand everyone crying and bitching with who's game has the bigger dick and why this game is the next Christ. It really does feel like the internet is filled with a bunch of very lonely nerds, who has the IQ of a dead rock....yes a dead rock.....please for no one else but yourself, GROW THE FUCK UP and learn the true meaning of life.

Post constructively without game bashing/insults, please. Infracted.

The game is unbelievably shallow compared to Guild Wars 1. I've probably logged... 3-4 hours total over the past month and a half.
My feelings as well, the "limited time" stuff is bogus they did that ONCE in GW1 as I recall (Bonus mission pack) only to have it available as a shop item later.

I actually logged on and bought 10 of those bogus chests because I'm stupid like that but that was all.

I feel absolutely no urge to play GW2 at all, I'll rather slave though mindless dailies in WoW it's still more fun. Gw2 is beautiful but the concept is really boring wish it was more like GW1 which to date is still my favorite MMO type game.

I logged on briefly for the start event but it was really laggy so I logged off again planning to come back on later. I spent a little bit of time online because of other commitments but didn't do anything further. I haven't voted as I don't think I am in a position to. No point in voting the worst, that's just stupid.

In a way I don't like one time events. I haven't been involved in any with GW2.

I would give my left toe, however, for a fully persistent world where everything was a one time event.

I wouldn't say the event was a good representation of the game as a whole and should not have been the singular focus of trials.

Through all phases I've had overflows where things were extremely laggy with long delays so long that when the lag was over I got a fast-forward review of what happened until the current situation kicked in with me standing lonely in the wilderness while a health bar on top-right corner of the screen was counting down rapidly for the current event leaving me no less than 20 seconds to get there if I was lucky not getting aggro-slowed while trying to do so. Sometimes it would disconnect me and after reconnect I'd have almost no lag with not exactly less people there. Since overflows are created on per-zone rather than per-shard basis I believe it's got more to do where the overflow was created (US or EU side).

My issues with the event are as follows:
    Mob pop in
    Occasional lag
    2x Reinforcements
Various bugs like Noll or when on the new island, having the escort quests reset half way through (or just stop).
Scheduling a near enough 2 hour event to happen at late evening/night for the EU on a Sunday.

Those for me brought it down to meh/ok level.
Must... resist... posting... huge... animated GIF...

If P3, was about 1 hour shorter I wouldn't have voted "Not so good".

Would have also been nice to fight against creatures with differing abilities other than the same mobs over and over.

After a while we just lost focus, and afk'd a lot of it.

"Hey, let's showcase the worst the game (e.g crappy mob mechanics/HP + cramming hundreds of mobs and players into one spot) has to offer to trial players, that would be a good idea!"

My vote would have been "it was really bad"

Then I found out today that the ONE TIME final event awarded a unique 20 slot bag, an OP accessory, and exotics with a shot at a precursor.

My vote is now: "most god-awful piece of shit event ever conceived," and that's even throwing the fact that I love FotM into the equation.

That rating is also only about 10% butthurt about missing the event before anyone goes down the expected route of "lolol u just mad/jelly bc u missed phat lewtz"

Just a note; GW1 still has a small community and still is a great game. I been playing GW1 a lot more than GW2 recently and there are still guilds around that run content.

And if you only auto attack ofcourse you're gonna be bored, and be bored quickly, dailies are just there for you to get a little extra for doing what you should be doing in the game anyway.
Pressing 4,3 every 12 seconds doesn't do much to liven up gameplay. The point I was making is GW2 PVE is shallow.

And you are incorrect about comparisons. Guild Wars 1 and 2 can be compared just as all games can be. There is no special rule that says one can not compare Mario Bros. to Vectorman, and vice versa. That is total nonsense and regressive to the medium.

The reinforcement phases didn't make a lot of sense, really (the ancient stops until they're all dead? meh, whatever). Firing rocks out of the geysers was okay, the rockslide was good, I thought. I missed the tree part because I was making my way there by the wrong route.

Should have had more natural events like the rockslide and such, with a steady stream of bad guys as backdrop, rather than a "stop and kill everything that spawns" thing, IMO.

Fencers add Sypa Ravenhowl in GW1, there's still so much I want to do in that game but I need people to do it...

As for the event, I absolutely loved it, but then again I'm INCREDIBLY biased because I'm a huge aquatic/costal fan and the new enemies + new zone just make me leap with joy!! The final event was pretty epic, didn't do any of the others though, was busy =(

Not sure what all that hate is about though...

PS: what are the maps and the sack used for? Anything or can I trash them now?

I missed the events last night. Nothing to do when I logged in.

So, I thought to myself, "there must be a shit ton of new things to do on the new island". Nope. . . nothing. . . not a single heart, event, or even a freaking vista. . . . if this is what ANet calls a content patch. . . . . I feel sorry for the people who held the flag for ANet and said things like "OMFG ANet IS GOING TO PUMP OUT MORE STUFF IN A MONTH THAN BLIZZ DID IN 20 YEARS! ERMEHGERD!"

I find it shocking that the game has been out for a while, and we still dont have this "new content" that was going to be a staple of the epic Anet F2Play model. It seems our definition of content , greatly differs.

I hope Im missing something, because I dont see myself logging in again until the next "content" patch drops.
