I really wouldn't be surprised if the director or someone was influenced by Masahiro Ito (the monster designer for the most acclaimed Silent Hills - 2+3). A big thing with his design was no monsters had visible eyes, which made everything instantly more alien/sinister, because, as they say, "eyes are the gateway to the soul". The fragrance ended up the biggest selling perfume ever after Coco Chanel, which I think is a pretty impressive feat for a celebrity scent. Although, it's more of a premier/classy thing that the tacky stuff that other celebs come out with.

I would bet most people would laugh as it would be taken that they tried to say cute instead of creepy. Though I don't actually know anyone who is Japanese.
