I've always imagined Australians as either desperate to get away from the country or stubborn enough to decide to stay.

It's not that bad of a place to live for the most part, actually. The weather in some of the areas isn't murderous, and a lot of our country roads are just MADE for speeding on, like the 5km straight section of road on the way from Canberra to Cooma.
