The trailer of Lightning Returns makes me think that the "new" battle system is a "bit" different to the other previous 2 games.
This time for what I've seen, you have certain ammount of "points" that you waste on the attacks. For what I think it is, you set 4 attacks in each role, or that each role has only 4 attacks, which the buttons to perform each attack are triangle, square, X and circle. Everytime you push one of those buttons, Lightning will instantly perform the attack and waste X points that it cost that attack to perform.
Since it's a none stop in the trailer from Lightning attacking, I can only assume that the points of each role will fill up back when you change to another role, since that is the only thing I've seen. Therefor, the battles will depend a lot in your strategy to pretty much role-dance like never before xD
