Well, we originally had the holiday schedule set up before Thanksgiving, with the caveat that if not enough people signed up for a given day, one could be volunteered for the spot based on holidays already worked and skills of the agent. Whatever, it's a necessary evil of being a 24 hour support center.
Apparently I was volunteered, but no one bothered to tell me about this until Friday. Even my boss was telling me that as far as she knew, I wasn't supposed to work on Christmas Day, which I'd intentionally not signed up for so that I could have some time with my family.
Had I known before Thanksgiving of this, as I should have since that's when the decision was made (or really any time before 4 days beforehand), I wouldn't have cared. I would have just not created my plans. Instead, I had to forcibly rearrange everything last minute just to find that the call volume doesn't even justify me being here today anyway.
I considered calling in "sick", but a) I don't have enough sick time left for that, and b) Mr. Eternal volunteered to work the same hours as me since I got screwed so that at least we could be together. So he's here, too, so I can't leave now. That would be mean.
