Did your parents screw up while you were in the womb?

So the other my parents were talking about babies and pregnancies and the conversation turned into a talk about when mom was pregnant of me. I found out that the reason why I had no front teeth til age 10 was not 100% caused by a fall. It turns out my mom was taking a medicine while carrying me that drained a lot of my calcium w/o telling the doctors.I was almost a stillborn, I was born at 42 weeks and 4 days, she never went to the doctor at the 40 week mark saying that if she didn't feel contraction pains it wasn't time. Also due to that medicine I had to be breastfed by another woman for 1 month and when i started teething my teeth would turn into white paste because lack of minerals and calcium.(then a neighbor pushed me i fell on my paste teeth and they were gone).
Did any of your parents screw up in a similar way or are my parent's just that irresponsible?

My mother didn't with me, but she did take a medication when she was pregnant with twins (my brother), before me. She didn't know she was and lost one of them. The other, my brother, is mentally the age of 10, but 31 years old this month.

You were born at 3 months and 4 days? I also don't see what "medicine" would cause you to be drained of your calcium and almost make you a stillborn but still have you be a functional person, I'm thinking the medicine had to have been some hard drug.

On topic: I believe my mom smoked a couple times while I was in the womb, AFAIK it caused no damage.

lol thanks for noticing meant to say 42 weeks, but I don't think the medicine had anything to do with my delayed birth.

Nope. Not that I know of anything but my mother constantly complains about others smoking/drinking during pregnancy so I guess she didn't do it^^

My mother smoked with me (and continued during almost all of my childhood), and 32 years later I still seem to be fine. No asthma or other smoking-related problems.

Same here. Again though, AFAIK she only smoked a few times while I was in the womb but still, never actually met someone who had asthma or anything like that when their mom smoked while they were in the womb, only really see it on TV ads about how evil smoking is and stuff.

(Also, I don't smoke, just feel people have the right to smoke, even if I disagree with people smoking during pregnancy.)

As far as I know she didn't. My mum doesn't smoke, nor does she drink often and the only drugs she takes is a pandol on occasion when she gets a bad headache. So I doubt she did any of that while pregnant.

My mum didn't screw up, but she did have an extremely tough time of it towards the end of her pregnancy with me.
Her mother was ill and died of lung cancer, it hit mum very hard - they were very close. She ended up going into labour during her mother's funeral (7 weeks early) and was hooked up to drips and suchlike at the hospital because she was suffering from malnutrition. Dad had been trying and failing to get her to eat properly. I was, however, born a very health size and weight (especially considering I was 7 weeks premature).

Nothing I know of, but I highly doubt it anyway. Funnily enough I seem to be the wierdo and black sheep of the family anyway.

My mother is a smoker but has stopped throughout all of her pregnancies. No drinking either. Did have painkillers during the birth.

And she apparently drank enough McDonalds Milk-shakes to sink a boat.

... Consequentially I've never broken a bone and my dental record is immaculate...? :P (Probably not but I apparently required alot of milk during my time inside, my sister made my mum crave more acidic things, and my brother just enjoyed all of the food) But hey, it's a happy coincidence.

Me and my siblings are all what one would classify fully functional beings physically and mentally.

Hmmm, I think my parents generally feel that the first error they made with me in the womb was putting me in the womb.

My dad spent, like, 8 solid weeks? after finding out about the pregnancy pouring all his energy into a 24/7 harassment campaign against my mother morning, night, at her workplace and at her home to convince her to get an abortion. She almost had a complete nervous breakdown from the stress and her doctor was concerned she was going to miscarry.

    TY daddy ILYSM ♥

I don't think so. Well... they did neglected to abort me after my mother contracted rubella. I'm sure not a few people thinks I'm a sorry mistake.

I think you're very intelligent and a solid contributor to these forums. The opinion of some random guy on the Internet doesn't always mean much, but I'm glad you're around.

OT: Nah, my mother didn't consume any dangerous substances while she was pregnant with me, but my folks still managed to pass down quite a few chemical imbalances.

Apparently I was conceived while my mother was wearing a leg cast.

Other than that I weighed like 10pounds or something ridiculous when I was born.

I guess this doesn't really count, but it's interesting enough. I have a very strong memory that was implanted from a really early age. Right after I started to crawl, I found my way to the stove where my mother was cooking something. Pulled down a towel cord and boiling bucket fell onto me. I remember my mom wrapping me in towels and I remember the hospital. I guess the pain was so excruciating that it's something I actually remembered.

naw semaphore, i've been on this forum a long time (just registered though. been lurking here for years.) and you're one of the solid top contributors to this entire forum. I'm glad we have people as you around.

OT: Nope, my mother hates smoking, and she didn't drink during her pregnancy or take any medication except pills for her headache. And i turned out fine, i just have bad vision like the rest of family.

    Oh, i wasn't planned though.

While it wasn't during pregnancy, I was taken out of my mum with a Ventouse cup. Apparently the doctors were pulling so hard the suction suddenly let go and they went flying across the room. Once I finally came out I had severe bruising and swelling, though nothing damaged my brain thankfully.

Then before I turned one I managed to get kawasaki disease, an extremely rare condition that can cause severe heart problems as an after effect, thankfully that didn't happen to me though. While the transmission is still considered unknown (its that rare, last I checked anyway which was a few years ago), one theory was that it is caused by powdered carpet cleaner, ironically my dad used that stuff on our carpets not long before according to my mum.
