What makes you think a national healthcare system would necessarily pay for expensive treatments for terminal diseases like leukemia?

A local man where I live, always gets arrested around this time of year for a petty crime, and gets locked away for a few weeks / months. Keeps him off the street, away from drugs and out the cold.

They do in most countries with a national health system. A friend of mine has had a terminal brain tumour for over a year now, they are still treating him, trying everything until the last minute.

I meant real healthcare and not that forced insurance thing you have going. It would get a lot cheaper if the middle man was cut out.

Because our government is controlled by the lobbyists and the ultra wealthy. That applies to BOTH sides of the political spectrum in Washington. We don't have a single payer healthcare system for a couple reasons. 1) It would reduce insurance company profits and they spend millions and millions of dollars lining the pockets of politicians so that never happens. In fact, we got a system that could make them even more money in the long run. 2) A single payer system could be viewed as a tax, which it really is, and half our government is a bunch of talking point zombies who signed a pledge to never raise taxes. They refuse to budge on that as our country is looking at the dire consequences of the fiscal cliff because they would rather swear allegiance to the ultra wealthy lining their pockets than their real constituents.

Hey look, one of those Rush Limbaugh spewing know nothings. Sure he could work, but have you ever tried to work with leukemia? Have you ever tried to get health insurance while having leukemia? Good luck with doing either of those things.

Also, THE OBAMA PHONE IS A MYTH. Stop buying in to Rush's propoganda. The Obamaphone should be properly called the Reagan phone because Reagan is the damn President who started the phones for the poor plan. You can't even claim Obama expanded it to cell phones because George W Bush did that.

Eh, no they didn't. The British NHS sprung out of the ruins of the country post-WW2, Britain was pretty much destitute, it came from the notion of solidarity, the country had been bombed to oblivion and suffered horribly from the war, so the country came together to alleviate the suffering.

Leukemia is not terminal. it is completely curable in most cases if detected early. Any disease can be terminal if not treated. Hell the flu kills thousands of people every single year and the treatment for it is basically get under a blanket and eat some soup.

The UK had their first NHS hospital 3 years after the end of WW2, the country was still fucked and rationing was still in effect. All the USA has to do is slash their bloated military budget a little and make progress bit by bit.

The Romney campaign is over. You can go back in your mansion..
That ignorant bullshit didn't fly with the majority during the campaigns, what makes you think it will fly any better now?
My advice, try to look at yourself. Chances are that you are in a horrible small minority of ignorant individuals, most Americans refer to as anti American.
Cause everything you say has nothing to do with what the country stands for.
You should be happy that you are able to sit in a warm room in front of a computer to be able to spread out your inhuman arrogant nonsense.

this is why i hate how soft we are on prisoners. people should be terrified to go to jail, not wanting to go for a free place to live.

Which they won't do in this generation, the only thing the world could hope for is that the next generation of Americans is a bit more rational, wich they won't because they still need to fix the educational system.

I know. People don't care if it's "Obamacare" or Universal Healthcare. If it's going to be called "socialism" by Fox it's not going anywhere.

Obamacare is not national healthcare, there's a reason why it's not called national healthcare.
