As for a video card, if it's only for Video editing/casual gaming a GTX 670 Will suffice. I don't really think you need a Quadro series card or anything.

GTX 670 is a good option too. I heard it has some good performance in Sony Vegas suite and Autocad.

If GTX 670 is good why are you mad at me using 660 Ti a supposed "gaming" card. The build will be strictly for video editing. How much is the Quadro 2000?

I'd go with the 680/670 over the Quadro 2K. Way more bang for your buck and better performance. Plus, just in case he decides to start gaming (show him Skyrim ).

Look, it will be a work station for EXCLUSIVE video editing. Its not even for my friend, its for his dad (just didnt feel like going into details). 0 Gaming means 0 gaming. I first said 670/680 and then people said its overkill. Think I'm going to end up recommending the Quadro 2k

In Vegas 12 support is coming for 600 series CUDA rendering IIRC. That would actually speed it up quite a ton.

It has OpenCL already. CUDA would be stronger yet with Quadro than GeForce. Gaming cards, AMD has much stronger GPU. If he wants an nVidia gaming card for CUDA, he should get a GTX 580. It is much, much stronger in CUDA than GTX 680.

For pure compute power, amd cards will beat your run of the mill GTX card. If you go for a GTX card a Fermi based card like 570 or 580 will be better for this particular task. I'd still go for something like a 7850 and a strong CPU.

If your friend doesn't need various things, I would just change them here or there & run with it. For video editing, you want to at least look into 2 x SSD's + the 6-core Processing power is going to be amazing.
