what does screen resolution do on a tablet?

I just bought a 7 inch tablet and the resolution is 800x600. When I'm playing angry birds its hard to see where my pigs are flying because the screen doesn't show the whole picture and I have to scroll over. If I get a tablet with a higher resolution will I see more in my games or is it because of the screen size I don't see everything?
