For phone calls/visitors and that sort, yes. Intentionally, as in join and go on /follow, no.
I will admit though that healing LFR (for the most part) tends to put me to sleep.

No. Happy New year.
No.. sometimes on Trash maybe.
I've AFKed on Sha of Anger before though right at the start of the fight, as the doorbell went... then I came back to find boss defeated, me still alive and standing there, and sadly that I'd done a lot better DPS than most of the people still, just by using auto-attack :/
BASIC CAMPFIRE for WARCHIEF UK Prime Minister!
As a healer I usually can't afford to. I've noticed that, on average, one healer will actually be dps, two will be terrible, and another will be the best geared player in the raid but AFK, leaving me and some other guy to desperately two-heal the whole thing.
But if you end up with six competent, participating healers, we are all forced to AFK at least some of the time, because there's just not that much to do and it's no use oom'ing yourself to do 10k dps.
Yes. Playing a healer combined with low damage and having 6 healers instead of 3 or 4 just makes for a boring experience.
A few times, but sadly whenever i do we wipe... i bring tooooo much epicness to the table, the groups don't seem to be able to kill anything without me :P or not, maybe i've just been very unlucky with groups ^
I wish I could AFK during LFR.... sounds like heaven. Curse my tank spec >.<
Yeah, the golden rule is actually about reciprocal relationships; ie. not one-time interactions between anonymous agents (see: LFR).
When I read quotes from Ghostcrawler like "It boggles me when players get focused on hyper efficiency on content that doesn't demand it", I sort of stop caring. LFR 'doesn't demand hyper efficiency' (by most players) when there are a few players who are carrying the other by themselves being "hyper effective" (which is a very hyperbolic and disingenuous way to misconstrue the position that decent preformance should be demanded in LFR). To get kicked from LFR you essentially have to be completely afk, and even then it's hard. It pisses me off to see GC basically agree that you don't deserve to be kicked for being afk in LFR.
As long as the LFR culture accepts this kind of shitty behaviour, and it's supported by the devs, I can't deal with forcing myself to preform well unless I'm doing the equivalent of testing my target dummy dps in a more advanced situation. I'll just afk when I can get away with it, and collect my gold/loot and valor points at the end. It doesn't hurt me one bit to do so. Personally, it would bring me great pleasure to see everyone else doing the same. Maybe then the devs'd change their attitude towards the whole thing... though I dubt it, since LFR seems to exist to reward poor play, so they'd probably just make the bosses lose a % of their health per second or something, and add constant free aoe heals for everyone in the raid so that you can't die; enjoy the illusion!
"Quack, quack, Mr. Bond."
Nope, as a Tank it's fairly obvious when I'm away. Also I'm fairly quick to kick AFK's, so it would be a little hypocritical to go AFK myself

I don't go fully AFK but I do put less effort and attention into trash because it's just tedious
i dont queue unless i know i have nothing to do until its done. its extremely rude when people afk and waste 24 other peoples time.
I'm afk in LFR as we speak
Does not really paying attention count?

Think the highest % of a fight damage i contributed to was nearing 20-25%....
Sure, but can't have been for to long

Last week, I was on Tsulong in Terrace, and got a call my friend was here, needing to check on something I'm storing for her. We had just gotten into a day phase. I said AFK, and left, at the time having been in second place on damage done for that fight. I went downstairs, opened the door, went to the basement, checked on it, talked a bit, and escorted her out, then came back up. All in all, I was gone a good two, maybe even three minutes. I had only dropped to number 10 on damage done for the fight. I jumped right back in, and ended up number four.
For anyone that is good with math, you should be able to conclude the majority of people in that fight must have either been doing completely awful dps or were simply auto-attacking/afk.
Not technically. I have gone to cycle laundry when a pull was about to start, or browsed topics in MMO-Champion during the particularly boring ones (Sha of Fe-zzzzzz) comes to mind, but I'm always there ready to help heal if the damage gets too intense, or if I'm DPSing I'm still hitting buttons occasionally.
Myself, I use LFR as a training ground to practice my tanking, rotations, and healing, so I usually don't have reason to go AFK.
No, but I don't really work as hard as I do in a real raid either.
