[Megathread] Pokémon X and Y / Generation 6

How does one go about transferring your pokemon from gen 5 into this one? Can it be done early in the game or do I have to get the equivalent of the national dex or something?

You need to use the Poke Transporter, which is a part of Poke Bank

edit: I don't believe they have launched the service yet though have they? I've been out of touch with pokemon since after gen 2....so I had no reason to use it lol

Nope, not launched yet. The new Global Link isn't even up yet, and it was supposed to go live on launch day.

Question: On my active pokemon screen (where you can re-arrange the 6 of them). What's it mean if the bottom right corner has a silver ring on my bee (three bee thing) pokemons thing.

Yeah. Far as I've seen, the disc means that pokemon has a field move (something like surf, cut, etc) that it can use.

So is anyone elses mystery gift not working at all? Every time I try to claim it via wireless internet it takes forever and nothing happens. I know my internet works fine and the 3ds connects to it just fine too so it's not the problem.

You mean to get the Torchic? Claim it over internet, not local wireless. Local wireless is for things like the GameStop giveaways.

Somebody on Wyrmrest Accord gave me the pumpkin pokemon (Haven't memorized all the names yet) and it evolved during the trade.
I think I just randomly found one of my new favorites on complete accident.

Agreed. Wasn't a huge fan of Team Plasma, so I'm glad they included a cool group of villains this time.

Magic Room doesn't stop you from using Mega Evolution, at least when you cast it yourself. I feel like it should.

LOLWUT. I used a luxury ball on Xerneas right at the start of the fight and captured it. I decided a heal ball would fit his motif better so I closed it out and now I'm not getting so lucky xD

I ended up grabbing Y and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Last Pokemon game I played was Black, and Ruby before that. I love how you can get a huge variance of types from the first area. Made getting my bug badge a piece of cake. Not to mention the Mystery Gift Torchic you get.

Edit: Found out you get an item based on your starter in Couriway Town, but there should still be one more of each of them somewhere in the game.

EDIT: Omg, my bad luck of putting shiny combee up for a wonder trade finally payed off, I got a Froakie from trading a Helioptile, since my starter was Froakie this should be able to get me something on GTS.
